 Hi  guys,

Picked  this  guy  up  on  Friday  as  I  got  a  great  deal  for  him.

He  is  about  4.5"  and  is  currently  housed  in  a  2foot  tank  which  is  a  half-way  house  for  some  assorted  fish  which  I  haven't  figured  out  what  to  do  with.

Will  move  him  to  the  4  footer  when  he  is  large  enough  to  swim  with  the  big  boys.

He  is  notoriously  difficult  to  photograph  by  noobs  like  me,  but  I  will  post  a  few  more  attempts  in  a  bit.

 Cheers,
 Sid

His  current  tank-mates  are  feeders  left  over  from  when  my  FL  Gars  switched  to  seafood  in  the  middle  of  a  batch  of  feeders.  (These  have  been  living  in  that  tank  for  nearly  a  month  now  and  are  definitely  healthy.)

The  larger  goldfish  (is  it's  a  Shubunkin?)  is  from  my  cousin  who  wants  to  get  rid  of  it.  However,  as  my  little  nephew  (cousin's  kid)  likes  these  goldfish,  I  can't  give  them  away  till  we  are  all  convinced  that  my  little  nephew  has  forgotten  about  them  and  will  not  ask  them  back.

I  expect  the  BGK  to  finish  off  the  feeders  over  the  coming  weeks.

 Regards,
 Sid

In  any  case,  I  gave  those  away  to  my  favorite  LFS.

The  BGK  isn't  as  much  a  "monstrous"  predator  as  I  thought  it  would  be.  The  feeders  are  still  all  there  (I  think).

 Cheers,

The  LFSs  are  currently  flooded  with  4"  Chitala  lopis..  It  is  sooooooo  difficult  to  not  buy  one  :)

 Oops

Don't  worry,  Suyash.  This  just  means  you  will  get  an  extra  special  birthday  present  from  your  kaka(s).

(I  am  really  hoping  this  is  a  joke  initiated  by  your  dad.  Smile  )

 Hi  Prajin,

This  is  a  scaleless  fish.  So  their  tolerance  to  medication  or  even  aquarium  salt  is  not  very  high.  Also,  as  these  fish  grow  to  18"  or  more,  the  tank  size  requirements  are  high  too.

In  my  opinion,  if  you  have  experience  keeping  other  loaches  (like  Clown  Loach  or  YoYo  loach),  the  difficultly  level  will  be  similar.  (Except,  you  can  only  keep  one  BGK  per  tank  on  a  long  term  basis.)

 Cheers,
 Sid
