 Hello  Hems,

The  set-up  looks  very  nice.  In  my  opinion,  it  will  look  even  nicer  without  that  "sunken  ship"  and  "barrel"  decor.  (If  you  have  added  this  because  some  kid  in  your  household  insisted  on  it,  that's  a  different  story.  My  cousin's  Malawi  cichlid  tank  has  a  giant  red  Strawberry  house  as  per  orders  of  his  10yr  old  daughter.  Smile  )

The  choice  of  fish  as  well  is  a  bit  unorthodox.  Besides  the  pleco  and  the  loach,  you  have  cichlids  from  all  over  the  world  and  completely  different  biotopes  and  one  man-made  hybrid  (the  Parrot).  This  is  usually  not  recommended  as  the  water  parameters  (temperature,  pH  etc)  required  are  different.

Going  forward,  please  choose  fish  from  roughly  the  same  biotope  or  study  the  requirements  in  terms  of  water-parameters,  food,  tank-size,  tank-mates  etc  before  getting  any  fish.

 Good  luck,
 Sid

 @  Sidrock
 Thanks  for  your  sugestions.
Talking  abt  sunken  ship  and  barrel,  I  agree  with  you  but  I  already  had  it  before  doing  chichlid  set  up,  i  just  used  it  for  hiding  fishes  ,  as  i  have  purposely  tried  to  keep  different  varities  of  chichlids  which  normally  do  not  accept  to  live  each  other.
And  I  guess  I  am  100%  successful  in  that,  I  never  found  any  aggression  from  them  since  last  7-8  Months,  they  live  peacefully  together.
   Thank  you  all  for  compliment....

 Regards,
 HemesH.

 The  rocks  are  very  nice.
They  look  very  clean  even  after  7-8  months..  how  do  you  keep  algae  and  diatom  at  bay?

Also,  I  can  see  a  tubifex  holder  in  your  tank..  do  you  feed  tubifex  worms  to  your  mbunas(I  can  see  some)?  It  is  not  recommended  by  experts.

 Awaiting  your  reply,
 HemesH.

Most  fish  (including  Malawi  cichlids)  need  a  "balanced  diet"  including  plant/vegetable  matter.  In  Malawi  cichlids  (especially  the  vegetarian  ones)  a  high  protein  diet  leads  to  a  disease  called  "Malawi  bloat".

Search  for  "Malawi  bloat"  on  the  internet  to  get  more  information.

Blood  worms  are  OK  as  an  occasional  meal,  but  do  have  some  Algae/Spirulina  based  flakes  as  part  of  their  diet  too.

(Tubifex  worms  have  a  reputation  of  being  contaminated  as  they  are  not  always  cultured  under  hygienic  conditions.  This  is  a  "reputation",  I  am  not  sure  if  this  is  actually  true.)

I  would  recommend  having  a  good  quality  brand  of  cichlid  specific  pellets  as  their  staple  diet  instead  of  any  worms.

Hikari  Cichlid  Excel  is  a  good  food  for  most  Malawi  cichlids  (especially  vegetarian  ones)  with  a  little  bit  of  Hikari  Cichlid  Bio-Gold+  fed  occasionally.

Hikari  Cichlid  Gold  and  Cichlid  Staple  are  options  as  well.

The  Spirulina  Flakes  are  by  "Anytime"  which  also  has  another  cichlid  specific  food.  And  there  are  some  other  brands  of  cichlid  pellets  also  available.

 Cheers,
 Sid

Thank  u  all  for  compliments,  I'll  try  to  upload  close  up  snap  my  fish  tank....

 @sidrock
I  read  some  articles  about  "Malawi  bloat"  as  you  have  suggested  but  just  want  to  share  with  you  that,  I  have  chichlids  from  past  7-8  months,  from  that  tie  only  I  am  feeding  them  Blood  Worms  and  Tubifex  Worms  regularly,  I  feed  them  at  morning  once  and  at  evening  once,  till  now  I  haven't  lost  any  of  my  fish  due  to  any  symptomps  of  "Malawi  bloat"  ,  I  lost  only  2  bcz  they  got  traped  in  rocks....I  feed  them  dry  food  very  rarely  when  I  don't  get  live  food.  So  is  it  ok  to  continue  with  what  I  am  feeding  them???
