 Caridina  gracilirostris  common  name  Rocket  shrimp,rhino  shrimp  and  many  other  funny  names.But  these  are  very  good  scavengers,and  good  algae  eaters,and  best  of  all  IMO  not  shy  like  other  dwarf  shrimps.

 Keep  up  your  WC  regime.These  shrimps  are  extremely  sensitive  to  ammonia.Also  they  cannot  be  bred  in  freshwater  tanks.To  breed  these  shrimp,  salt  water  conditions  are  required  for  their  fry.In  the  wild,  young  larvae  require  full  strength  saltwater  to  survive  before  metamorphosing  into  post-larvae  and  returning  to  freshwater.

 It  seems  like  they  have  need  some  chemicals  for   metamorphosing  thats  found  only  in  saltwater.most  of  the  Shrimps  found  in  freshwater  are  converted  from  the  saltwater  to  brackish  and  then  to  freshwater?i  guess  it  goes  that  way.

 those  rhinos  r  very  common  and  cheap  here  in  WB.did  anyone  try  to  breed  them,maintaining  a  specific  salt  water  or  brackish  water  condition  wont  be  a  problem...the  price  of  amanos  has  to  come  down..

 Hey  gangopadhyay,

 U  know  vey  well  that  they  are  mainly  from  brackish  water.  Not  possible  to  breed  in  softwater......

 And  in  kolkata  we  know  them  as  a  "Red-Nose  shrimp"....I  have  few  now....doing  very  well...But  obviously  no  sign  of  breeding....  ROFL   ROFL   :rofl:

 And  WELCOME  to  IAH

 @avida
 we  have  discussed  about  its  breeding....he  was  asking  about  the  maintenance,not  breeding.
 in  case  of  shrimp  transport,some  points
 1.lotsa  water  compared  to  air
 2.no  live  plants.
 3.02
 4.u  can  use  a  water  soaked  newspaper  wrapped  around  the  plasticbag.
 5.crossed  finger  Thumb Up
 ask  the  experts  for  further  info
