Hi  Rimpel,

You  have  done  a  nice  job  dear,  u  have  presented  a  whole  new  format,  actually  u  can  give  it  an  ancient  look  such  as  roman  one.  May  be  change  of  color.

Its  a  wild  though  but  thought  of  sharing  with  you.  Clapping

Thanks!  coldfear,  I  have  not  the  non  toxic  colour  and  I  do  not  know  where  it  is  available.

 They  look  nice.
 Name  the  tank,  Ancient  Rome.
What  fish  are  you  going  to  keep  in  this  setup.
Something  colourfull  like  malawi  would  look  nice.
To  me  it  is  not  necessary  that  the  tank  should  look  natural,  aquarium  designs  should  be  limited  by  their  creator  imagination.
After  all  how  many  dutch  style  landscapes  are  found  in  nature.
Give  us  a  snap  of  the  finished  tank  also.

 @rimpel

Please  check  the  pH  on  a  regular  basis  before  adding  any  fish,  as  the  cement  will  leech  into  the  water  causing  the  pH  to  rise  beyond  reasonable  levels.  I  would  recommend  adding  a  powerhead  running  24  hours  and  a  water  change  for  around  8-10  times  before  introducing  any  fish.  Have  you  tried  to  stick  it  to  the  aquarium  glass  and  filling  it  with  water.  The  caves  might  just  start  floating  in  a  day  or  two...

 Regards

Rimpel  -  I  liked  the  cave  formation.  As  pointed  out  before  ..  really  looks  like  a  palace  after  "fall  of  Rome"   Very Happy
It  has  great  scope  of  becoming  an  awesome  setup  and  depends  on  the  color  that  you  give  and  how  it  blends  with  the  gravel.
Please  post  the  complete  setup  snap  once  it  is  ready.

i  am  really  late  on  this  one,  i  know...

i  like  the  whole  concept.   thermocol  that  can  be  shaped  as  you  please  and  plain  old  cement  to  add  on  the  weight  and  stone  like  colour.   natural  or  not;  at  the  end  of  the  day  i  feel  if  the  creator  is  happy  with  the  work  and  look  then  the  goal  is  achieved  perfectly.   and  with  an  idea  so  simple  and  easy  to  carry  out  you  can  even  make  3-4  sets  of  caves  and  change  them  every  few  months.

the  thing  to  keep  in  mind  is  to  make  sure  the  cement  is  well  "watered"  and  cured  before  you  actually  use  it.

well...  going  by  the  fact  that  im  very  late  with  these  comments,  it  would  be  great  to  see  the  update  on  your  tank  and  see  how  the  set  up  looks  now  after  all  this  time.

all  the  best  and  a  terrific  idea  you  have  put  forth   Thumb Up

 Thanks  Amit  and  Dinesh
Cave  is  very  big  I  have  not  any  other  aquarium  without  fish,  where  I  can  dip  the  cave  into  water  for  some  days.  Crying or Very sad  So  I  am  not  set  the  cave  into  the  aquarium.

as  far  as  i  know  cement  has  to  be  cured  with  water  or  other  coolant  to  set  completely.   water  is  the  cheapest  and  best  option.   big  or  otherwise  i  suggest  you  immerse  this  in  water  and  as  suggested  above  water  change  a  few  to  several  times  before  you  actually  use  it  with  fish  and  plants.   you  could  find  a  plastic  tub  and  place  the  cave  sideways  for  this  process.   i  dont  think  it  should  be  damaged  in  the  tub.   you  could  use  the  tub  later  for  multiple  things  around  the  home  or  aquarium.   i've  seen  large  ones  in  the  market  about  3-3.5  feet  tall  with  and  without  lids.
