take  a  torch,  shine  it  on  the  surface  of  the  water,  look  closely,  if  you  can  see  tiny  specks  of  dust  moving,  then  those  are  infusorians  :D

btw,  what  water  source  did  you  use?

 Hey  all,
I  got  some  doubts  about  infusoria.  Decided  to  continue  this  thread  instead  of  posting  new  one.

I  have  started  a  culture  3  days  ago  using  raw  potato  &  aged  aquarium  water  in  500ml  jar.  Removed  the  decaying  potato  on  second  day.  Today  i  could  see  infusoria  inside  using  torch.

 1)  whats  the  life  of  this  batch?
 2)  how  do  i  continue  this  culture?

 1)  whats  the  life  of  this  batch?
a  good  culture  can  last  long  if  given  take  basic  care

 2)  how  do  i  continue  this  culture?
prepare  another  container  to  serve  as  the  food  generator  for  your  culture.  You  can  continue  to  use  your  potato  recipe  or  try  substitute  the  potato  with  shredded  vegetable  or  dog  food  or  you  can  even  yeast  water.

I  personally  like  to  use  yeast  water  as  it  can  work  as  an  indicator  for  a  feeding  regime  Very Happy

Thanks  for  replying  pal,  but  what  do  you  mean  by  basic  care?  Do  i  have  to  make  partial  water  changes  or  provide  aeration?

Basic  care  such  as  feeding  on  regular  basis.

Well  generally  water  change  and  aeration  is  not  necessary.  They  basically  feed  on  bacteria  which  digest  those  rotten  vegetable.

Can  you  specify  location  to  keep   jar  or  tank  of  infusia  culture  ?
in  sunlight  or  away  from  sunlight?
