 Madmax,

I  use  freshwater  puffers  to  get  rid  of  snails.

If  they  would  be  helpful,  maybe  I  could  pass  you  a  few.

BTW,  where  do  you  live  in  India?

 Thanks  Nytyn,

Snails  are  not  my  problem,  the  problem  is  of  leeches.Do  freshwater  puffers  eat  leeches??

The  query  to  Polya  for  the  snail  remover  was  because  he  said  it  works  on  leeches  too  (on  page  2).

chicken  heart  placed  in  a  small  bowl  attracted  only  5-6  leeches,  there  are  hundreds  on  the  glass,  but  i  guess  they  are  not  interested  in  chicken,

my  wife  gave  me  an  idea  to  keep  some  clotted  blood  in  a  bottle  with  small  holes  in  it,  im  thinking  of  getting  some  from  the  butcher,  want  an  opinion  if  it  is  feasible?

well  the  thing  is  that  they  have  to  stay  attached,  get  a  big  piece  of  mutton  liver  ,  and  then  check  it  out,  bottle  well  try  it  out,  make  very  tiny  holes  in  it  and  try

Sudheer  ,Thanks  for  the  link,  i  thought  PP  does  not  work,  i  have  tried  it,  Batman  here  had  recommended  putting  pp  into  the  tank  ,  i  did  so  50mg  (  2  small  packs)  into  my  tank  and  left   it  overnight  ,the  leeches  didnt  budge, only  the  very  young  ones  were  killed  i  guess.
An  old  thread  here  also  says  PP  is  not  effective  against  leeches,

 http://indianaquariumhobbyist.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12316&highlight=leech

As  for  trichlorofon  ,i  have  used  it.I  think  it  is  the  same  drug  in  ocean  free-Kill  parasite,  but  i  have  to  check  the  dosage,  i  dont  think  i  have  used  it  anywhere  near  the  recommended  zone.

The  plants  are  already  in  Shock  i  guess,  after  so  many  medications,  im  thinking  of  giving  it  a  breather,  before  dosing  anything  else.what  do  you  suggest.

 Hi
It  appears  a  good  idea  to  give  a  breather  as  you  did,  It  is  a  good  signal  that  young  leaches  are  getting  killed.  If  you  can  get  info  about  its  life  cycle  from  net  or  elsewhere,  you  will  be  able  to  apply  the  medication  which  was  effective  for  killing  the  young  ones  during  their  breeding  time  and  thus  avoiding  multiplication  and  the  eliminating  adults  by  other  methods  like  bating  may  be  it  is  a  slow  process  but  ultimately  you  will  succeed  I  believe.
 with  best  regards,
 Sudheer
