 Hi,
Any  update.  Did  you  handle  the  leeches  ?
I  have  heard  that  these  leeches  doesn't  like  the  smell  of  castor  oil.  You  can  try  some.
Also  they  don't  like  the  smell  of  tobocco.  Put  some  tobocco  leave  in  the  water.
Final  step  may  be  take  some  backup  of  the  plants  you  have  and  then  make  the  water  salty  as  I  have  suggested  before.

 hi...

Its  been  almost  a  week  now,  i  siphoned  the  precipitate  after  3  days  and  i'm  stirring  the  water  and  doing  a  30%  water  change  daily,  the  snails  are  gone  ,  but  im  still  able  to  see  leeches  ,caught  3  today...!!  i  happened  to  speak  to  Nag(  a  senior  member,  who  has  gone  through  all  this)  ,he  happened  to  be  very  helpful  and  i  followed  every  instruction  of  his..  finally  he  was  able  to  recognize  the  problem  area  to  be  the  laterite  which  had  turned  slurry,  i  removed  the  substrate  from  the  top  of  the  slurry  ,switched  off  the  lights  and  promptly  the  leeches  crept  up  from  there...  so  i  have  got  no  choice  but  to  remove  the  whole  thing  ,  change  the  substrate  and  redo.(  the  substrate  tho  had  served  me  for  almost  more  than  3  years  now.

But  the  fact  remains  ,  i  dont  know  how  i  got  it,  no  new  plants  added  nor  the  fishes  ,  everything  remaining  the  same  can  a  leech  be  dormant  for  a  period  of  three  years??  6  months  back  i  had  changed  the  aquascape  but  no  substrate  added  nor  any  extra  plants  were  added.  i  feed  nothing  but  tetrabits...  so  where  did  they  come  from????  ┬ámystery  to  me  but  a  sure  problem  now.!  thanks  for  the  help  guys!!
