Guys,

Had  a  call  with  Sanjay  and  all  the  fry’s  are  doing  well  except  2  mortalities,  Interestingly  my  discus  babies  growth  is  superior  than  his  discus  spawn.   Innocent

Thats  because  BBS  feeding  was  good  in  quantity  from  your  end.  BTW,  the  fry  look  awesome.

Very  nice  fry  development,  Kiran.  Kudos  to  you  raising  them  at  this  delicate  stage  despite  your  working  schedule.
All  the  best  for  your  next  Turq  vs  SS  crossing.  Thumb Up

 Thanks  Adesh  and  Yogi.

As  advised  by  Shiva,  fry’s  are  raised  solely  on  BBS  for  15  days.  As  an  experiment  I  have  given  them  few  pinches  of  spirulina  powder  in-between.  As  I  read  somewhere,  Spirulina  will  boost  the  immunity  power  of  the  fry’s  and  its  actually  works  .  Next  15  days  fry’s  are  raised  on  4  times  BBS  and  twice  a  day  GH+  spirulina  powder  mix.

 Regards,

 Thanks  all.

 Yes,  Prasanna.
The  pair  had  spawned  twice  in  the  community  tank  but  unfortunately  they  have  eaten-up  the  eggs.

 Friends,

As  confirmed  earlier,  I  have  tried  to  breed  the  LSS+BT  pair  for  almost  a  month.   The  pair  has  spawned  thrice  in  the  breeding  tank  but  within  next  2  days   after  spawn  all  the  eggs  had  fungus.

The  pair  always  spawned  at  midnight  timings  hence  unable  to  watch  the  action.  At  third  spawn  I  kept  the  watch  on  them  and  surprised  to  see  that  the  male  is  real  spectator  while  female  is  laying  the  eggs  !!!  (See  the  below  snap).

On  10th  October,  I  have  shifted  my  new  farmed  pair  Yellow  Crystal  male  and  Golden  Melon  Female.  Both  have  done  the  perfect  job  and  spawned  on  15th  of  October  at  11:30  PM.  The  spawn  was  around  150  eggs.  Till  free  swimming  stage  all  was  under  control  but  while  parenting  it  was  difficult  to   fry’s   to  attach  to  the  parents  body.  I  think  this  is  a  problem  for  all  pigeon  strains.  To  overcome  for  this  issue  I  have  reduced  the  water  level  at  12  inches  and  fry’s  are  attached  to  the  parents  body  within  2  hours.  The  pair  had  always  fought  for  getting  control  on  fry’s  and  I  have  lost  around  25  to  30  fry’s.  I  didn’t  remove  one  of  them  because  they  are  still  in  learning  phase.

From  today  I  will  feed  them  newly  hatched  BS.   Below  is  a  snap  of  4  day  old  fry’s.

 Cheers,

Please  let  me  know  if  I  can  have  a  pair  from  this  spawn  may  be  after  a  month  or  so.

 Guys,

Failure  of  breeding  SS  male   and  BT  Female  continued,  the  High  fin  SS  male  was  unable  to  fertilize  the  eggs  hence  I  replaced  him  with  LSS  male  (Yogi’s  Chap).

Outcome  is  as  below.  (around  150  fry’s  at  free  swimming  stage).

Learn  lot  more  things  with  help  from  Shiva,  Sanjay,  Yogi  and  Adesh.  Would  like  to  close  this  thread  from  my  end.
