I have a sera Actinic which is 15watt tube
Can we use a 18w or 36/40w ballast to power it.
connected it to 18w and 40w ballast but it won't power up
and i am not able to find a 15w ballast
tubes is blown or i need to find the 15w ballast ? |

i don't think connecting it with 18 W ballast would be a problem apart from some extra heating (that too wont be substantial for 18 w, don't use 40 W ballast though). recheck the wiring if its not working with that ballast else there is somthin wrong with your tube. |

connected the tube to 18w ballast but it wont power up i think the tube must be blow (the ballast is new )
want to give a last try connecting it to 15w ballast |

u can't blow up the tube just by connect it with the ballast which is rated just 3W above the required value. i have been using 1 for quite a long time without any problem. may be somthin is wrong with the connection or the tube or the ballast itself. posting a pic may be helpful. |

I don't think pics are going to be of any help in this case.
Yes you can definitely run a 15 W tube on a 18W ballast without any problem.
I had done the same without any issues for about an year before I upgraded to 40W ones.
If you have an alternate ballast, check the tube. In most cases, the tube would have gone dead.
Else you can get it checked form a local electrical stores. |
