ok  there  have  been  a  few  small  changes  to  the  dimensions,  due  to  the  overzealous  diggers,  we  have  a  14'x13.5'x6'+  are  the  new  dimensions.

this  weekend  when  i  came  back  home  i  found  the  digging  to  have  been  completed  and  the  bed  for  the  pond  to  be  finished.

Today  the  work  for  the  walls  was  started  at  0900hrs  and  finished  at  1700hrs  and  the  wall  built  was  2'  in  height

anyways  without  further  delay  here  are  the  pics

this  was  the  pic  i  took  in  the  morning  of  saturday,  before  the  work  started
the  small  pond  beside  the  new  one  is  actually  9'+  in  diameter

one  more  shot  for  comparison  of  the  two  ponds

one  of  the  mason  workers  inside  the  pond  readying  the  bricks  before  the  walls  are  raised

the  last  brick  being  laid  for  the  day

this  is  the  update  for  today,  lets  see  if  any  work  does  happen  on  sunday,  there  will  be  an  update,  until  the  next  weekend.

It's  going  to  be  really  exciting  for  IAH  to  see  the  list  of  future  inhabitants  of  that  "Monstrosity"

I  can't  even  imagine  how  exciting  this  must  be  for  you!   Rock On

What  kind  of  filtration  system  are  you  considering  for  this  pond?

The  ones  I  have  seen  (and  read  about  on  the  Internet),  have  a  concrete/brick  version  of  a  Top  filter  at  the  surface  level  (filled  with  filter  media.)  Depending  on  how  high  the  "filter  tank"  is,  the  outlet  can  be  a  stone  water-fall  putting  the  water  back  into  the  pond.

 Cheers,
 Sid

PS:  The  TSNs  and  RTCs  and  Goonch  look  spectacular  in  top-view.  Are  the  Giant  Snakeheads  also  very  exciting  to  look  at  in  "top-view"?

 it  is  super  exciting

all  in  good  time,  we  will  go  post  by  post  as  the  build  happens,  as  of  now  just  the  pond  is  getting  worked,  before  the  tiling  the  filter  work  shall  begin.

the  yarelli  shall  live  in  a  tank,  not  the  pond,  its  teeth  scare  me  for  the  others  safety.

the  list  of  fish  in  the  pond  is  not  going  to  be  long  or  anything,  just  a  few  odd  ones  which  i  can  get  my  hands  on,  but  this  project  really  leaves  me  broke

I  meant  making  the  tank  monster  by  keeping  monster  fishes  like  arowana's  and  various  catfishes  like  rtc, shovelnose  etc.   Chuckle

By  "tank"  you  mean  the  pond?

As  for  making  it  "monster",  one  of  the  fish  Jib  has  planned  to  keep  it  is  the  "Giant  Snakehead"  (Channa  micropeltes).  Fresh  water  fish  don't  get  much  "monstrous"  than  that  (not  in  size,  but  in  "attitude").

For  example,  check  this  video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ziz-yrHidc4

(The  catfish  is  more  than  half  the  size  of  the  Snakeheads.)

Although  they  are  significantly  larger  and  are  predators,  I  don't  think  'pimas  have  the  same  "attitude"  as  Snakeheads  (like  Auranti  and  this  Giant).

Also,  Jib's  pond  might  not  be  large  enough  to  house  an  arapaima  for  life..

 no  pimas  for  me
 no  way

i  would  prefer  catfish,  snake  heads,  tors,  aros,  gator  gars  thats  all

i  think  i  pretty  much  have  a  stock  list

 2  RTCs
 1  TSN
 2  RTC  x  TSN
 2-3  Gator  Gars
 5  Silver  aros
 6  Tor  Putitoras

load  of  plecos,  ranging  from  20"  -  30"+

if  i  do  find  a  channa  micro,  yes  it  will  go  in  to  the  pond
