Yours  look  like  bakeri.
Yes  populations  do  have  orange  tips,  but  you  know  all  about  geographic  variants  Marc.   Smile

I  know.......geographic  variants  are  a  bit  confusing.  Confused

One  more  way  to  confirm  it  is  check  the  anal  fin  rays

 B.  bakeri  has  16-17  commonly  16
 B.  canarensis  has  13-16  commonly  14

I  guess  Nayak  has  to  id  it  now  :D

If  both  his  species  1  and  3  have  16  anal  rays  then  we  are  stumped  again.

Thanks,  Deepak,  Marc,  Madhu,  Baril  and  Ashwin  for  your  reply's.  I  still  have  to  read  up  a  lot  before  concluding  the  species.
yes,  Marc.  I  will  try  and  take  better  pics  of  the  fins  and  count  them.  But  it  will  take  some  time  Smile
They  are  not  what  you  would  call  Camera  friendly,  especially  the  P&S  kind  Chuckle
 Regards,
 Nayak.

Here  is  a  couple  of  pictures  of  Tor  khudree.

Caught  at  around  1  inch  in  the  Tunga  river  it  has  reached  6  inches  now,  with  all  the  potential  to  become  a  monster  fish!  Might  have  to  let  him  back  in  the  wild  since  I  really  cannot  house  him  when  he  is  full  size.

Already  becoming  obnoxious  with  the  loaches  I  shifted  him  temporarily  into  the  Tambraparanei  biotope,   Hoping  the  Neolissochilus  sp.  there  will  teach  him  some  manners  Chuckle

 Regards,
 Nayak.

Lovely  fish  Thumb Up  .  I  too  wanted  to  keep  a  few  but  they  grow  real  big  and  my  tanks  can  no  way  accomodate  them.

You  can  try  Puntius  dorsalis.  They  look  jus  like  Tor  but  dont  grow  that  big.  Very Happy

Had  set  up  the  Gangamoola(Varaha  Parvatha)  Biotope  tank  around  6  weeks  back.  Illuminated  it  three  days  back.
Still  needs  a  lot  of  fine  tuning.  Smile

Spent  the  new  years  eve  of  2011  photographing  them.

 Here  are  the  denizen's.......

Eight.  Had  a  couple  of  them  since  March2009,  and  later  added  another  six  in  April2009.  Shreyas  caught  those  other  six  Chuckle

No,  I  do  not  have  Channa  marulius  and  have  never  kept  one.  My  fish  room  is  capable  of  supporting  a  fish  that  grows  to  a  max  of  9  inches  and  not  more.  Any  monster  fishes  that  came  as  contaminants,  since  ID'ing  fishes  caught  as  fry's  or  juveniles  is  difficult,  will  be  returned  back  to  the  wild.

 Regards,
 Nayak.

That  is  a  L36"*B18"*H21".  Unorthodox  for  a  Loach  tank  Chuckle
Make  do  with  what  you  have  in  hand,  I  always  say!

The  water  flow  is  very  high.  Almost  comparable  to  washing  M/C  flow.

 Here  are  the  inspirations.....

And  here  is  Beta  playing  Goalie......

 To  be  continued....  The  Denizens....
