 @  Mudassir

Hope  you  have  created  enough  water  current  for  them  through  a  power  head  as  otherwise  they  may  not  survive  for  long...  what  are  you  feeding  them  though  ?

 Regards

More  important  than  flow  rate  is  DO  and  temperature  which  in  turn  is  inversely  proportional  to  DO.

 How  many  loaches  in  all

That  puffer  is  pretty  man,  very  cute.  Doesnt  it  eat  shrimp?  soon  you  might  go  snailing  Chuckle   instead  of  fishing-  looking  at  the  pace  your  guy  is  eating.

Nopes,  higher  the  temperature,  lower  the  DO  and  vice  versa.

 Sorry  for  late  reply.

This  greeted  us  when  we  were  hungry, which  reminded  me  of  a  saying  in  tamil.

This  was  enroute  to  the  stream  behind  our  lodge,  where  we  first  dipped  into  the  water.

Water  temp  around  26C  at  around  7pm  and  around  28C  during  the  day.

Taken  from  the  same  spot  with  rapid  current  Shankar?   A  2C  drop  by  7PM  or  a  2C  rise  by  mid  day  sounds  a  bit  exponential  for  that  kind  of  a  volume  and  flow  rate.

Sorry  missing  your  post.  The  otherwise  very  'slow'  river  at  most  places,  was  narrowing  down  at  the  above  point  and  a  couple  of  more  places  and  hence  the  gush  of  water.  Perhaps  the  slow  flow  rate  before  the  Bhavania  spot,  took  the  effect  of  changing  temperature  during  the  day.

More  than  the  flow  rate,  my  guess  was  based  on  the  sheer  volume  of  water  in  the  biotope  shown  in  the  pic.   I've  come  across  many  times  low  volumes  of  water  almost  stable  throughout.   Anyways  you've  been  there,  done  that  &  I  take  it.   Smile

You  have  a  point,  but  the  water  at  some  'slow'  places  was  not  more  than  2  or  3  inches  from  the  bed  (  that's  where  the  mystery  Channa  was  caught  ).  Deeper  waters  hardly  get  affected  by  the  sun,  as  you  said.

 Jibran  and  Mudasir  in  action.
This  place  was  fully  with  cloths  of  pilgrims  and  where  we  netted  a  breeding  pair  of  puffers.
And  saw  plenty  of  Puntius  Filamentosus.  Made  a  feeding  frenzy  with  Aloo  Bhujiya  to  net  a  few, but  in  vain.

The  rugged  vehicle  crossed  a  road,  Shankar  shouted   THIS  WAY,  THIS  WAY.  And  we  were  off  from  the  vehicle  and  started  to  walk

 and  reached

Shankar  and  arjun  taking  the  lead  to  get  into  the  water.

 Others  exploring  the  other  side

The  place  where  we  netted  lots  of  loach,  hillies.  glypto,  few  barulius.  The  water  was  just  4-5  inch  deep.  And  the  place  we  choose  for  night  fishing  and  video's  too.  We  went  deep  inside  for  the  target  fish  and  found  nothing  and  not  even  spotting  one.

My  first  night  trek,  was  expecting  slender  loris  and  many  more.
Shubhakar  exploring  all  the  leaf  rags,  pipes  under  the  road  for  water  and  many  more  holes  to  spot  a  snake  atleast.
 But  we  saw  only  a
    And  nothing  more.
