God its been a long time since i posted here ! anyways i am in US now doing my MS. Im in a city called Rochester, New york. I wanted to know if anyone had any sources by which i could buy some fish tanks and some fishes. I mean reliable sources and preferably cheap  . Please do let me know. Thank you |

It depends on what fishes you are looking for.

| Try craigslist, you can find stuff cheap from someone leaving the hobby. Also check your local clubs, many local clubs have forums and you can find lot of infos on those forums. |

Hello Pratik,
I know this will be a bit non-relevant question in this thread but still asking the same as you have recently travelled the India-US route. Do any airline allow fishes (Qty: 2 or 4) be carried to the US for non-commercial purpose ?
Either as baggage with the passenger or thru courier.

| @Suman, I don't think US airlines will mind if you carry them in checked luggage. You'll have to declare at the customs in India. When I came to India last Nov I carried with me a styrofoam box with corals. Sadly, Lufthansa lost the luggage I had the corals in and they brought it to my house the next day, but everything was dead by then. |

When I entered into the hobby, I was taking rounds of these sites, which happen to be pet chain stores, operating in the US
I really loved the way petsmart presented there fishes! |

| @suman : as mentioned above, most airlines allow us to carry it as checked baggage. Although you must be careful because some airlines have extremely strict rules as far as bags are concerned, and may not allow it. |

| So just as an update, i did try most of the sites. many of them look good, but im gonna still snoop around a bit for a LFS or maybe check walmart (heard they have a collection of fishes). Shipping is very expensive in most sites, so i am keeping that as a reserve. |
