i  got  a  local  breed  flowerhorn  fish  baby.
placed  now  in  36*15*18  bare  bottom  tank  since  10days.
500lit/hr  filter  out  flow  routed  through  top  filter.
top  filter  water  fall  produces  air  bubbles.
 temp  set  to  29
green  plants  back  poster  &  sides  blue  glittery  gift  pack  cover  were  placed.
 using  bore  water.
tested  in  medical  lab  (as  they  do  for  urine  test)
 ph-6.5(have  to  re  check  again)  &  sp.gravity  1.000
 dont  know  water  hardness.
mukk  siphoning  weekly  twice  along  with  15-20%  wc.

that  grown  from  2cm  size  to  3inch  size  in  45days.
is  it  is  good  growth  rate  r  ok?
 showing  some  hump  now.

iam  feeding  xo  humpy  head  5times  a  day  (9am/12pm/3pm/6pm/9pm)
2-3  medium  large  pellets  per  one  feed
 on&  off  mosquitos  also.
 is  iam  underfeeding  per  feed?
can  i  feed  tubifex  worms  as  i  am  having  small  pack  of  it.

fish  when  chewing  small  powdery  particles  coming  out  from  gills.
they  lay  down  on  bottom.  small  whitish  fungus  like  structure  encircleing  them  like  a  globe.  when  fish  is  in  sleep  &  touching  bottom  its  doing  some   flickering  movements  of  fins  like  itch.
is  it  is  harmful?  how  to  get  rid  of  it?
as  it  adheres  to  bottom,  siphoning  it  is  somehow  difficult.

iam  putting  hand  while  siphoning  with  pipe.  most  times  it  is  biting  me.
is  it  can  be  trained  to  not  to  bite  me?
that  time  it  is  doing  some  dancing  type  shaking  movements  as  they  do  in  breding/mating,  when  i  just  touch  &rub  fish  on  sides  as  we  do  with  dogs  on  head.  circleing  around  my  hand  at  some  45derees  angle.  what  does  it  mean?

what  light  intensify  the  look  of  the  fh  colour  &  pearls
 CFL  r  pink  hitachi  light?

 Itch  ?  --->  use  rid-all.

particles  comes  out  of  gills  while  eating  --  >  happens  to  me  as  well.  do  a  water  change  every  week   --  30%.

XO  -  bad  choice  -->  has  added  chemicals  to  boost  the  growth.  Try  Viking  or  grand  sumo  or  Hikari.  i  have  hikari  now,  fish  is  eating  good.

For  clearing  up  waste  food  -->  use  prodibio  products,  it  will  clean  up  unwanted  particles.  Add  Boi-trace  and  BIO-digest  from  prodibio,  excellent  products.

 Hi  Dhanu,

I  don't  mean  any  offense,  but  your  post  will  be  easier  to  read  if  you  use  capitalization  and  punctuations  (and  spell  checks)  :)

WOW!..  That's  due  to  "Power  feeding"...This  will  definitely  make  your  FH  grow  large  and  chubby  and  is  very  "profitable"  if  you're  a  dealer  who  wants  to  sell  the  fish  at  a  profit..  If  you  are  a  hobbyist  and  intend  to  keep  this  FH  as  a  pet  for  a  long  time,  Power  feeding  is  probably  going  to  lead  to  an  obese  and  lethargic  fish  and  detrimental  in  the  long  run.

The  flickering  movements  (if  only  occasional)  are  just  normal  cichlid  behavior.

Put  a  large  common  pleco  in  the  tank  to  get  rid  of  the  excess  food  on  the  floor..  Alternatively,  use  one  of  those  sponges  with  a  long  handle  to  wipe  the  tank  floor  (as  your  tank  is  bare  bottom).

Haha..  Not  going  to  happen..  The  steroid  laden  food  you  are  feeding  your  fish  is  going  to  continuously  keep  him  this  aggressive..  To  give  you  a  contrast  (and  illustrate  that  this  behavior  is  not  normal  unless  during  spawning)  I  have  one  of  the  most  aggressive  (natural)  Cichlids  in  my  tank:  A  Jaguar,  and  that  guy  has  never  bit  me  in  close  to  a  year.

Unnatural  behavior  due  to  steroids  in  food..  I  would  recommend  stopping  Steriod  food  and  moving  to  something  like  Hikari  Cichlid  food,  but  that  will  mean  the  FH's  "kok"  won't  look  like  a  tennis  ball  and  your  "Feng  Shui"  will  be  messed  up  and  you  won't  win  the  lottery  or  whatever..

I  have  regular  lights  in  2  tanks  and  Hitachi  Aquarium  ("Pink")  light  in  3..  IMO,  the  Hitachi  light  brings  out  the  best  colors  in  the  cichlids.

 Good  luck,
 Sid

 Hi  to  all  FH  Lovers.

iam  thinking  my  FH  growth  is  slow.

(grown  1  inch  to  4inch  in  3months.  including  tail)
What  is  the  use  of  market  prawns?
is  prawns  only  induce  colour?  no  use  in  growth?
i  am  feeing  only  3  prawns  weekly  on  alternate  days.
dry  stuff  is  only  humpy  head.

What  else  meaty  substance  i  can  use  for  its  growth?

hey  dhanu,  dont  make  keeping  fish  so  complex,
feed  your  FH  2-3  times  per  day  till  it  does  not  eat  more,  feeding  5  times  per  day  is  way  too  much,
market  prawns  are  good  as  they  induce  growth  better  than  commercially  prepared  foods,  these  combined  with  beef/goat  heart  will  make  the  ideal  food  for  your  FH,
if  u  can  make  BHM  for  your  FH,  feed  BHM  once  a  day  combined  with  humpy  head  or  some  other  prepared  food.
water  changes  twice  per  week  of  30-40%  should  help  in  growth

 hi  mudassir,  tnks.
at  first  as  i  got  2cm  baby  then  i  gave  5times  feed.  thinking  new  borns  require  more.
im  feeding  4  times  since  1  1/2  month.  8  medium  large  pellets  per  feed.
i  started  prawns  since  10  days  only.
on  prawn  feeding  day  i  skip  one  feed  to  digest  the  prawn.

hi,  100  days  over  with  my  flower  horn,  from  2cm  baby  size.
measured  my  flower  horn,  few  days  back.
 it  is  6inches  now.(including  tail)
it  is  showing  some  pinkish  colour  &  adequate  head  also.

 now  im  feeding
9am:  xo  starry  20-25  medium  pellets
3pm:  xo  humpy  head  12  medium  large  pellets.
9pm:  xo  humpy  head  12  medium  large  pellets.
on  alternate  days  im  feeding  1  fresh  raw  market  prawn.

still  1  doubt-  is  the  prawn  will  help  in  growth?
is  i  can  feed  plain  FGH  (not  GHMix)in  the  other  alternate  day?

IMO  fresh  market  prawns  is  proved  to  be  better  food  than  any  other  commercially  prepared  food  available  in  the  Shops.
