 Hi,

I  have  three  Frontech  Timers,  each  one  of  them  are  connected  with  two  sockets.  At  least  twice  in  a  month  the  time  gets  automatically  reset.  Please  help  me  in  determining  what  could  be  the  problem.  I  have  already  replaced  the  RTC  Battery  for  all  of  them.

 Regards,
 TK

Do  you  have  long  power  outages  when  this  happens  ?
Check  the  voltage  of  the  new  batteries  !

In  that  case,  all  I  can  say  is  clean  the  timer  contacts,  it's  probably  dirty  and  sparking  internally  causing  the  reset.

 I  am  not  inclined  electronically.
It  happened  twice  to  my  frontech  timer.  The  time  used  to  get  reset  after  power  outages  and  I  was  told  the  relay  had  conked  off.

I  also  had  the  same  problem  with  my  frontier  digital  timer,  IME  it  happens  when  power  fluctuations  happened  i  used  stabilizer  also  but  the  result  was  same  three  of  timers  are  not  working,  i  have  observed  that  this  is  due  to  loose  contact,  avoid  loose  contact  i,e  with  pin  and  socket  it  may  help,  or  avoid  pin  and  socket  for  connection,  take  the  connection  to  the  timers  directly.
it  may  help  to  avoid  the  timer  by  reseting  or  stop  working.

As  mentioned  by  Madan,  this  can  happen  if  there  is  a  long  power  shutdown.  Also  if  there  is  frequent  voltage  fluctuation.

Use  a  spike  buster.  Connect  the  mains  to  the  timer  through  the  spike  buster...

i  was  also  wondering  for  the  last  few  days  as  to  what  can  be  the  reason   for  this,  but  the  above  dtatement  from  shelly  has  made  me  sure  that  its  indead  the  voltage  fluctation  thats  the  culprit.

@  Bhim:  from  my  experience  with  the  timer  i  have  observed  that  the  most  common  reason  for  failure  of  the   timer  is  burnt  zener  diode.  get  them  checked  and  i'm  sure  some  of  them  will  start  working  at  almost  negligible  cost.

The  main  reason  for  the  Timer  to  go  bad  is  the  power  fluctuation  and  due  to  loose  contacts  at  the  pins.   Best  thing  to  do  is  to  Solder  the  Wires  to  the  pins  of  the  timer  so  that  there  is  no  loose  connections.

I  have  encountered  this  problem  and  found  the  reason  after  burning  out  5  timers.

In  my  timers  the  when  the  relay  switches  on  the  power  on  red  led  glows  very  lightly  and  there  is  no  power  output.   Can  anyone  look  in  for  a  remedy  to  correct  this.....

I  had  faced  this  earlier  and  now  also  occasionally,
As  mentioned  by  others  it  happens  in  following  situations.

 1)  Any  spike  in  electricity

 2)  Any  loose  contact  in  plug  (this  can  be  fixed  by  pressing  close  the  contact  points  in  sockets  of  the  plug)

 3)  If  any  one  hits  (I  had  this  problem  once  or  twice  when  my  son  disturbed  the  wires.)  the  connection  settings.)

 with  best  regards,
 Sudheer

Thank  you  all  for  sharing  your  experience  and  suggestions.

As  timer  has  become  a  vital  part  of  our  hobby,  to  keep  our  little  water  garden  up  and  running  even  when  we  are  not  around.

I  am  going  to  redo  everything  and  let  me  see  if  that  works  out.

But  again  I  am  sure  there  are  few  who  have  had  a  good  experience  with  Frontier  or  some  other  company  timers.  Please  do  share  your  knowledge  and  ideas  on  it  and  help  us  in  building  this  vital  part  more  reliable.

 Warm  Regards,
 TK
