I've  been  looking  around  for  some  really  good  quality  bettas  for  breeding.
Anyone  know  breeders  or  LFS  in  B'lore  who  have  such  bettas  available?
I  am  particularly  interested  in  Melanos  so  if  anyone  has  seen  some  for  sale  ,pm  me  please.

 http://www.betterbettas.com/Gallery1/breedergallery.html

This  site  seems  to  hae  some  good  strains  but  in  the  USA    Crying or Very sad    and  I  have  no  clue  of  what  the  import  regulations  are    for  India.

 wow..  another  Betta  lover.  Drinking

I've  not  seen  any  good  variety/strain  of  bettas  yet  here  in  India.    One  of  my  friend    promises  to  get  me  a  fish  while  travelling  back  to  India.    Hopefully  he  gets  me,  I  breed  them  successfully  and  can  ship  it  to  you.  Rock On      Wish  me  good  luck.    Very Happy

Meanwhile,  if  you  manage  to  get  through  some  source  here  in  India,  please  count  me  in  to  buy  some  fishes.

What  exactly  do  you  mean  by  "show  quality"?  Fish  that  have  won  shows  or  are  the  offspring  of  show  winners?  I've  seen  such  fish  sell  for  hundreds  of  $$    Surprised

A  better  option  IMO  is  to  get  some  fish  with  good  bloodlines  from  Thailand  or  Singapore  and  then  establish  the  line  in  India.  There  are  many  hobbyist  clubs  whose  members  will  set  you  up  with  quality  fish.  Talk  to  some  of  the  members  here  who  import  fish  if  they  can  get  some  in  for  you.

 @retro_gk
The  second  option  actually.  I  highly  doubt  that  I  can  get  show  winners.  Some  of  the  dealers  abroad  will  sell  you  a  mixed  bag  of  of  6  unsexed  offspring  and  will  even  ship  it  abroad  but  don't  know  what  will  happen  when  it  comes  to  India?

While  bettas  are  among  the  easier  fish  to  ship,  you  never  know  what  will  happen  to  them  in  the  hands  of  the  postal  service  Very Happy  Using  a  courier  is  likely  to  be  very  expensive.

Like  I  said  in  my  previous  post,  a  better  option  is  to  source  fish  from  Singapore  or  Thailand...  get  in  touch  with  some  of  the  breeders  there  and  you  will  be  able  to  find  fish  just  as  good  as  show  winners.

There  are  many  betta  breeders  on  Arofanatics  or  you  can  join  the  Singapore  betta  club    http://www.bettaclub.org.sg

I  do  not  know  how  much  experience  you  have  with  bettas,  but,  before  you  get  any  fish,  I  strongly  recommend  reading  up  on  the  many  strains  available  and  practising  raising  fry  with  locally  available  fish.  Cambodian-Plakat  forms  are  a  good  way  to  start

 Hi  Gokul,
If  crown  tail  betta  is  what  you  meant  ,  this  is  not  it
 This  is  a  crowntail:
 http://siambluegreen.com/wwwct_cambodian.JPG

I  saw  some  at  Indian  Ocean  Aquarist  at  Kolathur...but  didnt  get  them  because  I  found  it  over  priced.

I'm  guessing  the  pic  posted  is  a  Double  Tail  or  a  Delta  Tail
