Hi..  I  bought  a  couple  of  Green  Terror  juvies  on  February  2010.  After  they  grew  up  a  little,  I  found  that  they  were  both  females.

Here  r  the  pics  of  the  2  females  on  June  2010.

Here  r  them  on  August  2010

So  then  I  gave  away  one  of  my  females  to  the  LFS  in  exchange  for  a  male.  The  male  was  at  least  1.5  inch  smaller  than  the  female.

This  is  him  when  I  bought  him  on  October  2010

I  introduced  them  and  they  started  the  breeding  behaviour  (flashing  tails,  lip  locking  etc).  But  the  male  didn't  seem  very  interested  at  that  time.

Since  then  the  male  has  gone  through  an  amazing  growth  spurt  is  at  least  2.5  inches  bigger  than  the  female.

 Here's  the  male  now

Nowadays, the  male  looks  like  he  wants  to  breed  but  the  female  isn't  interested.  Now  the  male  keeps  chasing  the  female  all  the  time.  I  tried  using  dithers  to  distract  the  male  but  no  use..

The  female  GT  seemed  very  stressed,  went  really  dark,  lost  all  it's  colors  stopped  eating  and  stuff.  I  didn't  realise  how  stressed  she  looked  until  I  saw  her  old  photos  I  took  before  I  put  the  male  with  her.

This  is  what  the  female  looked  before  i  introduced  the  male  GT

This  is  her  3  days  after  I  seperated  her  from  the  male.  Doesn't  look  as  good  as  before  but  still  improved  and  started  eating  well.

The  female  is  in  a  29gallon[36*15*15]  all  by  herself  and  the  male  is  in  a  58  gallon[42*18*18]  with  a  few  Giant  danios.  Now  the  question  is..  What  should  i  do  for  the  long  term?:

Should  I  introduce  another  female  along  with  the  pair  so  that  one  female  doesn't  get  stressed  too  often?
Will  the  male  and  female  pair  up  and  kill  the  extra  female?

Sorry  for  the  medium  quality  pics...  took  them  on  phone..  don't  hav  a  camera
 Pls  comment.  Thnx  4  reading.

I  suggest  you  keep  the  male  and  the  female  in  the  same  tank  and  use  a  slide  glass  to  reduce  aggression  or  stress.  Remove  slide  glass  periodically  to  allow  them  to  spawn.

Commendable  captures,  using  a  cell  phone  camera  Smile

Both  your  GT  are  males.  In  the  first  place  you  had  two  males.  You  gave  one  away  and  took  another  male.
Another  reason  is  the  lip  lock,  a  mock  fight  between  two  males  to  establish  dominance.

 Regards,

 Hi  Nayak,
Can  you  pls  explain  how  to  identify  the  male/female  in  GTs.
I  too  had  a  pair.  They  grow  well.  But  didn't  spawn  at  all  and  died  after  some  time.

 Regards,
 Suresh

@marc,  thnx  man  will  try  it

@rasikanayak,  Thnx  4  the  comment, but  the  one  I  believe  to  be  female  had  it's  egg  tube  sticking  out  for  some  time  when  she  was  alone.  She  hadn't  actually  laid  eggs.  That's  when  I  introduced  the  male.  He  didn't  seem  interested  in  breeding  at  that  time.  (Used  n73  to  get  the  photos.  1  usable  photo  for  every  25  taken  Smile  )

@usureshb,  Males  are  normally  much  prettier  and  colorful  and  sometimes  have  a  nuchal  hump.  This  is  the  most  amazing  GT  Goldsaum  I  have  seen
