Hi  all,  a  friend  and  I  are  wondering  if  anyone  here  knows  something  about  this  nice  fish?  First-collected  in  2009  and  seemingly  a  new  species,  has  anyone  collected  it  since?

Matt  was  kind  enough  to  post  it  for  me,  and  shortly  after  I  joined  the  forum  -  ahum.  Sorry  and  thank  you  Matt   Chuckle

Glad  to  be  here;  I  have  been  following  threads  for  a  while  and  know  a  few  of  you  from  other  forums.  My  passion  of  choice  is  Badidae  (Badis,  Dario)  and  I  definitely  seem  to  be  on  the  correct  forum  for  that.

I  am  very  interested  in  this  fish  and  learning  some  more  -  anything  really  -  about  it.  Of  course  it  would  be  even  better  to  have  a  group  in  one  of  my  tanks  but  that  might  be  for  another  time.

Thanks  for  the  welcome  Shankar;  it's  great  to  be  here!  I'm  trying  to  find  out  where  this  particular  badid  occurs  because  Assam  is  pretty  big  so  right  now  it  would  be  a  needle  in  a  haystack.  Some  day  I  will  have  this  fish  swimming  around;  that's  future  my  goal  :)

From  the  same  trip  Heiko  made;  I  have  the  Dario  "Jiantia  Hills"

more  about  this  Dario  in  this  topic

My  best  guess  for  now  is  that  the  Badis  species  is  from  the  Meghalaya  region,  Heiko  prob.  nows  the  exact  location,  maybe  ask  him?

I  saw  his  fish  from  Meghalaya  in  PFK  and  I  have  had  that  Badis  since  2006  from  Andrew;  they  are  tuivaiei.  He  gave  me  the  Dario  from  the  Jaintia  Hills  as  well.  The  fish  I'm  looking  for  is  definitely  not  from  Meghalaya.  I  asked  him  about  the  location  of  'my'  fish  in  2009  but  never  got  a  reply.  If  you  know  him  maybe  you're  willing  to  give  it  a  try?

hello  guys,  im  from  Assam,  but  i  cant  help  much  here.
i  once  caught  a  badis  that  had  stripes  like  those  in  the  pic,  but  it  was  a  juvenile, maybe  thats  the  reson  it  didnt  have  the  red.or  maybe  a  different  species,  unfortunately  the  only  pic  i  hav  is  laughable.  the  fish's  head  was  behind  some  rocks  and  the  focus  was  on  a  different  fish  actually, still  will  post  the  pic  and  also  another  pic  with  a  different  looking  pair  .
if  you  guys  are  planning  collection  trips  in  the  area, let  me  know  in  advance  ok.

here  are  the  pics.  have  circled  the  fish  in  the  pic

Oe  difficult  to  tell  from  the  circled  fish;  it  could  go  either  way.  Where  did  you  exactly  collected  it  from,  and  from  where  the  Badis  badis  in  the  other  photo?  Have  you  ever  made  any  collections  from  near  the  village  of  Raimana  or  from  the  Bhoroli  subdrainage  (Brahmaputra  River,  Sonitpur)?
