 Hi  Garothmaan,

I  had  RES  as  well.  That  site  definitely  help  and  it  has  lot's  of  information.  Try  the  same  thing  mentioned  in  the  site.I  had  4  RES  and  had  faced  almost  all  issues  and  kept  them  for  6  years  before  giving  them  away  to  a  zoo  in  Bangalore

From  that  site  and  I  quote:

 "Refusal  To  Eat

There  are  numerous  reasons  why  a  RES  may  not  eat.  A  recently  hatched  RES  may  not  eat  for  several  days  while  they  are  sustained  through  their  yoke  sac.  Cold  temperatures  may  discourage  RES  from  eating  as  their  metabolism  slows  down.  Water  should  be  a  constant  75-78  degrees  F.  Illness  and  infection  may  suppress  appetites  and  if  other  symptoms  are  present,  they  should  be  thoroughly  investigated.  RES  can  occasionally  become  tired  of  the  foods  they  are  receiving  and  may  be  just  looking  for  a  change.  A  mature  female  RES  may  refuse  to  eat  if  she  is  preparing  to  lay  eggs.  Finally,  stress  may  discourage  a  RES  from  eating;  this  may  especially  be  true  if  this  is  a  newly  acquired  turtle.

Lighting  and  temperatures  should  be  carefully  checked.  Try  offering  treats  and  live  foods  to  entice  eating.  Smelly  foods  or  ones  that  are  brightly  colored  may  appear  more  appetizing.  Boiled  chicken  or  pellets  soaked  in  canned  tuna  water  may  be  useful.  If  you  are  feeding  your  RES  in  a  separate  container,  they  may  feel  more  comfortable  in  their  regular  tank.  If  you  are  feeding  by  hand,  they  may  be  reluctant  to  take  it.  Most  hatchling  and  new  RES  need  time  and  space  to  adjust.  Once  your  RES  begins  to  eat,  you  should  attempt  to  slowly  switch  it  to  a  more  appropriate  diet.  "

 Hi  garothmaan,

I  even  faced  the  same  issue  when  I  had  mine  at  home.

The  process  I  mentioned  above  please  follow  that  or  else  you  can  make  a  paste  of  cerelac  and  add  some  calcium  dust  vitamins, turtle  pellets  and  shrimps  and  some  food  she  likes  and  make  it  a  even  paste  with  water  and  fill  it  up  in  a  little  big  syringe  and  try  squirting  that  in  the  back  of  her  mouth.

 1)  What  is  the  sex  of  it?  and  is  it  alone?  Sometimes  if  it  a  female  and  preparing  to  lay  eggs  will  not  eat  anything.

2)Check  the  lighting  and  temperature  and  water  condition.

 3)  Did  you  took  it  to  that  vet  and  showed  it?

 4)  Another  very  important  thing  RES  are  incapable  of  swallowing  food  unless  they're  under  water.  That  could  be  part  of  the  problem.  Like  a  person  taking  a  pill,  they  need  water  with  their  food  or  they  can't  swallow  it.

Please  post  some  pics  and  I  assume  it  will  big  as  it  is  with  you  for  4  years.

I  will  tell  you  another  method  of  force  feed  to  it.

 Hope  she  recovers.  Smile

 Raj

Put  in  a  heater  and  get  the  water  temperature  up  to  32  Deg  C.
 It  should  poop  and  improve.
Keep  good  water  aeration  when  temp  is  high.

Hello,  Did  you  tried  to  forcefeed  it  as  I  have  explained  above?  or  lure  it  with  some  colorful  nice  food  (tinned  tuna, eggwhite  or  boiled  chicken  and  fish)...can  you  please  post  a  pic?  i  want  to  see  the  tank  size  vs  the  turtles  size  as  well.

Keep  the  water  clean  and  temp  and  other  parameters  proper.
You  can  findout  the  gender  as  well  so  please  visit  the   http://redearslider.com/determining_sex.html

This  Site  is  amazing  and  you  can  get  more  and  more  information  on  them  and  if  a  RES  is  not  producing  waste  then  Placing  your  turtle  in  warm  water  for  30  minutes  and  increasing  fiber  in  the  diet  may  resolve  the  situation.

I  hope  it  is  not  suffering  from  impaction  and  If  you  keep  gravel,  small  rocks  or  even  sand  in  the  tank,  you  should  suspect  it  .  This  occurs  when  your  turtle  ingests  or  swallows  rocks  and  cannot  pass  them.  If  this  condition  does  not  change,  you  should  ask  a  veterinarian  to  check  for  blockages  by  taking  an  x-ray.  Anything  inside  a  tank  has  the  potential  to  be  eaten;  anything  that  would  fit  inside  your  turtle's  mouth  should  be  removed.

Impaction  is  a  real  and  serious  problem  with  smaller  RES  and  gravel.  You  may  not  see  it  occur  but  it  does  happen  often  and  gravel  should  be  immediately  removed  from  any  habitat  you  keep  a  RES  in.

A  simple  method  that  normally  works...

Keep  his  tub  or  tank  in  sunlight,  with  a  basking  spot..  and  toss  in  a  few  feeder  fish..  That  should  help...

 Thanks  Madan,  Thanks  Gatorx

Ya  this  is  a  good  idea..

The  big  mistake  I  made  was  feeding  it  those  pellets  and  nothing  but  the  pellets.   The  tank  is  bare  bottom  and  nothing  except  water.  We  live  on  the  top  most  floor,  and  we  have  plenty  of  sunlight,  it  goes  under  it  for  a  while  every  has  abd  basks  also.  I  sure  its  constipated.

Vet  said  I  can  add  "LIV  50  +  Crimafin"  in  food  to  bring  out  the  poop  (  1  week)  But  I  am  sure  I  will  need  to  take  it  to  a  vet  soon  for  physical  examination>
