If  you  do  not  have  anyone  coming  from  the  US,  buy  an  iphone  4  if  budget  permits  or  3GS  from  Airtel/Voda.  You  will  get  it  for  20K!  THE  BEST  BARGAIN  possible!

Personally  I  love  HTC  phones  and  own  an  Incredible  S  which  I  have  rooted  to  run  a  Sense  3.0  ROM  (Which  the  Sensation  runs).  I  would  have  definitely  gone  for  the  Sensation  but  really  it  boils  down  to  personal  preference.

iPhones  are  pretty  much  locked  down  but  they  have  decent  battery  life,  good  build  quality  and  a  very  smooth  though  in  my  opinion  boring  UI.

Both  Android  and  Apple  have  a  good  collection  of  apps.  Just  bear  in  mind  that  the  Sensation  and  iPhone  users  have  both  reported  death  grip  issues.

If  you  are  willing  to  pay  premium  for  Apple  products,  go  with  it  as  most  iphone  owners  whose  priority  are  making  phone  calls  and  using  apps  seem  to  love  it.  It  has  good  resale  value  too.

You  might  want  to  consider  Samsung  Galaxy  SII  as  well.  Build  quality  isn't  the  best  but  good  feedback  on  performance.  If  you  look  on  desidime  you  might  land  some  good  deals  which  are  far  cheaper  than  an  iPhone.

 Unni,
every  one  seems  to  have  an  iphone  these  days.  but  hardly  anyone  has  an  HTC.  i  used  the  first  O2  branded  HTC  phone  in  India.  hence  the  preference  towards  HTC.

 Beta,
does  the  Incredible  S  run  on  2.3  gingerbread?  whats  that  battery  usage  like?  i  agree  that  the  UI  in  iphone  is  pretty  boring.  for  that  matter  same  is  with  Samsung  SII.  boring  interface.  hoping  that  sensation  price  will  drop  a  bit  during  diwali  so  that  i  can  pick  it  up.

Been  using  HTC  Incredible  S  since  last  5  months  &  I'm  quite  happy  with  its  performance  including  battery  life.
It  comes  with  2.2  (Froyo)  as  pre-installed  OS  but  you  can  upgrade  it  to  2.3  (Gingerbread)  later.

If  you  have  decent  budget  like  for  an  iPhone,  would  suggest  you  to  give  a  thought  to  HTC  Evo3D  as  well.

I  agree  that  iPhone  4  is  an  expensive  buy  3GS@20k??  I  have  never  seen  a  better  deal!

How  much  does  HTC  Incredible  S   cost?

I  have  tried  a  few  touch  phones  including  the  latest  galaxy  HD  and  xperia  X2.  iPhone's  touch  sensitivity  is  atleast  2  levels  above.  There  is  no  2nd  in  the  market.

I  got  mine  with  2.2  and  a  month  later  got  an  OTA  update  to  2.3.  I  rooted  the  phone  soon  after  and  I  now  run  the  Virtuous  Unity  ROM  (Based  on  the  shipping  sensation  ROM)  with  overclocking  set  to  the  default  1.2  ghz.
Battery  lasts  for  1.5  days  on  3G.  I  mostly  use  it  for  official/personal  mails,  games,  surfing  and  some  apps  (pulse,  feedly,  cricbuzz,  facebook,  dropbox,  whatsapp  etc.)
If  you  want  to  use  the  full  power  of  the  SG  SII  you  need  to  root  it  and  install  one  of  the  custom  ROMs.  Touchwiz  is  as  ugly  as  IOS  for  sure.

With  3.5  inch  display,  VGA  video  recording  and  3  megapixel  camera,  3GS  is  an  outdated  phone  so  20K  is  way  overpriced.   Do  you  realize  they  are  dumping  the  old  unsold  phones  on  us?
 Incredible  S  costs  around  24K.
Touch  sensitivity  is  good  in  the  iphone  but  a  big  price  to  pay  for  an  otherwise  not  so  impressive  device.
I  own  an  Ipod  as  well  so  don't  get  me  started  on  Itunes   Thumb Down

iPhone  4  is  schduled  to  be  archived.  the  iPhone  5  will  be  out  soon.

Dont  waste  your  money  on  an  iPhone.  The  Android  OS  is  far  superior,  consistent,  stable  and  has  constant  fixes.  Thats  not  forgetting  that  the  Andriod  OS  is  MUCH  MUCH  more  powerful  than  the  iOS.  This  is  what  i  feel  and  from  my  personal  experience  with  most  top  line  phones.  i  own  2  HTC  with  native  Android,  1  HTC  with  ported  cooked  rom,  2  BB's,  1  iPhone  3GS  (bricked)  and  1  iPhone  4  which  is  currently  with  my  sister.

The  iPhone  is  primarily  a  "fun"  phone  and  is  a  hit  with  the  youngsters.  Android  driven  phones  offer  you  the  best  of  both  worlds:  Productivity  &  Recreation  at  1/2  the  price  of  an  iPhone.

What  is  the  primary  objective  for  your  phone  upgrade?  if  you  can  tell  us  that  we  can  suggest  which  one  to  go  in  for.

The  final  decision  is  yours  &  yours  alone  to  make.

 *edit*
Lemme  ask  you  this  straight  up:  have  you  already  made  up  your  mind  to  go  in  for  an  HTC  and  looking  for  validation  to  your  decision?

 Samsung  Galaxy  S2  is  nice.
Been  using  it  for  couple  of  months  now..  Only  problem  would  be  battery  life.  But  it  is  more  or  less  the  same  in  smart  phones  i  guess!!
