Mollies  and  swordtails  are  the  easiest  to  breed  individually.
For  cross  breeding  you  can  experiment  carefully  and  let  us  all  know  the  results.
 Good  luck.  Cheer

Aren't  there  enough  frankenfish  out  there?  Why  do  you  want  to  add  to  them?

Yes  there  are  enough  freakish  fishes  out  there.

Firstly  it  was  just  an  intellectual  question.

Might  try  it  out  of  scientific  curiousity  but  will  definitely  not  propogate  them   if  at  all  I  try  it.

Both  mollies  and  swor  tails  inhabit  the  watres  of  United  States  and  I  feel  they  might  not  interbreed  as  this  would  have  led  to  their  pure  form  dissapearing  in  the  wild.

By  the  Unni  the  swordtails  that  we  see  in  aquariums  today  are  supposed  to  very  different  from  the  actual  wild  swordtails  due  to  selective  breeding  for  ornamental  purposes.

Ummm  no.  they  were  interbred  with  Platies.  Green  Sword  tails  called  Xiphophorus  hellerii  scientificly  and  platies  Xiphophorus  maculatus.  your  swordtails  that  you  see  now  a  days  are  Xiphophorus  X  hellerii.  They  arent  mutants.  Nor  frankenfish.....they  belong  to  the  same  family  which  makes  your  swordtail  are  called  "Aquarium  Hybrid".  A  happy  mistake  if  you  might  call  it  that.
