Here  is  my  effort  to  make  the  Hood  and  LED.  Really  sorry  for  crappy  pics.  Took  these  using  Nokia  5233.

Hood:  I  used  the  wood  frame  to  balance  the  weight  and  then  it  is  covered  with  the  Fiber  glass.  The  hood  is  completely  transparent.

Its  a  complete  hood,  but  only  the  wood  beams  are  visible  as  it  is  transparent.

 A  little  closer  look.

LED:  Its  a  105  LED  light  driven  by  12  v  dc  power.3  Led  per  row  i.  Total  of  35  rows.   I  found  the  circuit  design  over  net  and  did  it.

Fist  one--  Test  light  with  15  LEDS.  (4*3  white  and  1*3  blue)

Second  one  Test  light  with  over  50  LEDS.

 All  lights  set.

 Power  nobs

 Cover  is  on.

Here  we  go..  the  final  product.

Thank  you.  Those  were  the  only  LEDs  available  locally  at  very  cheap  price  and  I  don't  want  to  invest  much  on  LED.

It  could  be  the  quality  of  the  photograph...but...your  lighting  appears  to  be  low  and  not  equally  dispersed.  For  a  tank  that  size,  you  need  :

 a.  More  LEDs  or

 b.  Bigger  LEDs  or

 c.  LEDs  with  a  higher  dispersion  angle

On  the  effort  side  ,  I  think  a  little  bit  more  effort  on  the  light  box  compared  to  the  hood  would  have  yielded  better  results.  But  thats  a  personal  view.  Overall  -  great  work.

Initially  I  thought  the  100  LEDs  are  enough.  But  now  the  light  quality  is  low.  Probably  i  need  to  go  for  two  of  the  normal  lights  in  the  box  rather  than  the  LEDs.  Any  other  Ides  for  the  light?

You  can  supplement  using  a  GU10  LED  bulb  from  Ebay.  If  you  add  conventional  lights  to  your  system,  the  heat  may  damage  your  existing  LEDs.  And  I  dont   see  space  to  add  something  too.  Do  check  these,  they  are  not  very  costly.  You  will  need  a  socket  though,  but  even  thats  not  costly.  I  would  recommend  you  get  a  3x1W  LED  bulb.  If  you  like  them  you  can  get  even  more   Smile

I  am  sure  this  will  turn  into  a  great  hood,  seeing  that  you  actually  are  a  hardworker,  rather  than  just  a  planner  like  me  Chuckle

I  have  checked  the  ebay  and  the  minimum  price  for  them  is  about  550/-.  These  are  way  expensive  for  me  Smile.  At  that  price  I  can  get  at  least   500  normal  LEDs  here  in  Hyderabad.  I  have  another  Idea  for  this.  I  checked  the  local  market  and  they  have  the  LED  strips  at  very  reasonable  price.  Probably  will  get  2  meters  of  that  and  will  include  in  this.

 Go  to  ebay.com
You  get  them  for  around  $4  and  free  shipping.
I  doubt  the  LED  strip  will  throw  in  as  much  light  you  need.  I  guess  its  the  one  used  in  diwali  for  decorations?

Update:  I  have  increased  the  voltage  to  the  Maximum  and  is  now  brighter.  I  don't  think  I  need  additional  light.
