I  just  now  saw  that  one  of  my  pangasius  catfish  is  almost  pale!!
I  have  a  black  shark  in  the  tank,  which  seems  to  be  feeding  off  its  skin!

I  havent  checked  the  water  parameters,  but  theres  nothing  new  since  last  few  months.  The  tank  is  5.5'L  3'H  2.5'W.  It  houses  8  pangasius  and  several  smaller  fishes  like  barbs  etc.  It  also  has  the  black  shark,  4  tinfoils  and  4  dollars.

 WHAT  TO  DO?!

 Incompatible  fishes.

Black  shark  also  called  the  red  tail  shark(Epalzeorhynchos  bicolor)  is  a  beautiful  but  obnoxious  addition  to  any  tank.  Remove  the  black  shark,  not  the  pangasius.

Get  rid  of  the  Pangasius.  They  are  not  aquarium  fishes.  No  matter  how  huge  your  aquarium  is.

 Regards,

 AHH!!!
 Someone  who  supports  me!!
This  is  moms  tank  and  she  likes  fishes  big.  Even  after  constant  non  cooperation  by  me,  these  were  bought  in.  And  they  were  completely  peacefull  till  now,  so  I  was  being  ridiculed  for  being  against  "cheap"  fish.

and  sir  its  a  Labeo  chrysophekadion,  not  the  red  tailed  one,  and  its  here  for  over  a  year.I  really  love  the  fish  and  I  take  care  of  it  personally  every  alternate  day,  feeding  vegies.
EDIT:Now,  what  would  be  the  best  way  to  get  rid  of  these?
Please  dont  say  its  a  food  fish.

Ahhh!  Labeo  chrysophekadion!!!!.  But  it  is  no  more  a  saint  than  Epalzeorhynchos  bicolor.

Your  tank  is  overloaded.  This  has  resulted  in  the  deterioration  of  the  water  quality.  Causing  some  skin  infection  on  the  Pangasius.  The  weakened  Pangasius  is  a  fair  target  for  your  Labeo  chrysophekadion.  My  initial  prescription  stays.

Get  rid  of  your  LAbeo  chrysophekadion  and  Pangasius.

 Crying or Very sad   Sad
This  is  exactly  what  my  granny  said,  even  though  she  only  watches  the  fish  tank.  I  ll  go  to  the  LFS  to  see  if  he  is  willing  to  take  these  back.

Can  the  pangasius  be  held  in  a  20'  wide  but  only  2'  depth  pond?  And  there  are  even  goose  around.

I  am  sending  them  to  the  pond,  they  will  be  gone  this  week.  And  I  managed  to  remove  the  victim,  and  its  in  quarantine  now.

I  would  LOVE  to  see  a  Red  Tailed  Shark  (Epalzeorhynchos  bicolor)  at  8  inches  in  size  as  mentioned  in  the  OP's  post  (and  title).

 Do  I  smell  sarcasm?  Confused
Its  a  Labeo  chrysophekadion,  not  Epalzeorhynchos  bicolor.

Nayak  sir,  can  I  keep  the  black  shark  after  I  shift  the  pangasius?
I  really  dont  want  to  part  ways,  it  has  too  much  devotion  to  it.
Most  of  the  fishes  in  this  tank  are  headed  to  the  LFS,  I  made  mom  read  your  posts  [  Cheering  ].  So  finally,  this  tank  is  gonna  host  some  interesting  fish  after  a  looong  time.

 PS:  Apologies  accepted  Drinking   Chuckle

 Ashwin,

You  are  inadvertently  getting  a  lot  of  appreciation  from  my  side.  No  regrets  at  all  since  I  always  speak  the  truth  Very Happy

Nope,  but  why  not  your  black  shark  in  the  20'  by  2'  depth  pond.  It  can  survive  even  your  Geese  around.

 Regards,

 @  Nayak:   Very Happy
Back  now,I  know,  it  will  be  happier,  but  the  ponds  in  Kanha.  While  the  local  care  takers  can  handle  the  pangasius,  I  doubt  they  will  feed  the  black  shark  as  I  do.  Can  it  do  without  much  green  supplements?
I  only  visit  their  once  a  month.

@Sid:  I  have  read  that,  Ive  read  about  in  a  few  books  too.  But  as  I  said,  this  is  my  Moms  tank,  I  only  saw  the  shark  after  she  bought  it.  Considering  my  mom  atleast  for  once  bought  something  ,  different,  I  took  it  under  my  wing.
Ive  had  a  long  discussion  here  it  self,  about  resetting  this  tank,  but  mom  blew  all  my  plans.  I  guess  I  will  get  a  chance  on  it  after  these  guys  move.

That's  pretty  cool  in  an  glass-is-half-full  kind  of  way  :)

If  your  mom  an  overview  of  other  fish  suitable  for  that  tank:  Jaguars,  Severums,  Green  terrors,  Oscars  etc..  Try  showing  some  of  the  set-ups  from  Prem  KK  on  IAH  or  others  on  YouTube  (GreenTerra  on  MFK:  http://www.youtube.com/user/greenterra)

 Good  luck,
 Sid
