Thanks  a  lot  for  your  valuble  advise  guys   Clapping

Looks  like  the  tank  conditions  for  tang  are  quite  stringent  as  I'm  not  much  used  to  monitoring  PH  and  other  stuff  Sad

Going  for  a  SA  cichlid  community  tank  with  Oscars,  GT,  Convicts  and  Firemouths   Very Happy

Can  we  keep  a  Black  Ghost  Knife  along  with  these  by  providing  it  with  plenty  of  crevices  to  hide  in..as  all  of  them  have  common  distribution?

What  kind  of  filteration  am  I  looking  at  with  all  these  big  gus  in  the  tank  Friends   Friends

I  cant  go  for  a  canister  as  of  now  as  its  out  of  my  budget   Sad

The  tank  capacity  is  320  Liter  so  I'm  planning  for  one  internal  filter  and  one  HOB  or  top  filer  with  a  combined  flow  rate  of  around  700LPH  to  800LPH..

Experts,  please  advise  if  this  filteration  is  enough  for  my  tank?

I've  read  that  keeping  large  number  of  aggressive  African  cichlids  under  one  roof  will  dispurse  their  agression   Mad   Mad   does  this  hold  true  for  SA  cichlids  also???

Finally  got  the  tank  and  started  cycling..

 The  tanks  final  dimensions  are  60L  *  45W  *  45H..

I  have  put  large  polished  pebbles  as  substrate  along  with  rocks  and  clay  pots  for  making  hiding  spaces.

Have  got  a  1400LPH  along  with  the  tank.  Its  flow  rate  is  too  high  and  there  is  no  setting  on  the  filter  to  reduce  flow  rate   Sad

Does  anyone  know  how  to  reduce  the  flow  of  filter.  Its  a  taiyo  filter  and  also  I  cant  see  any  provision  for  opening  the  filter  to  clean  sponge,  help  on  this  from  anyone  who  uses  similar  filter  will  be  great   Thumbs Up

VenkatRau,  sorry  to  say  this..  Gravel  and  teh  decors  looks  messed  up,  doenot  give  a  pleasant  look..  This  is  just  my  opinion  on  first  sight..  Try  to  change  the  gravel  to  a  nice  natural  and  make  some  good  selections  and  arragments  of  the  stones/pots/decors..

so  many  colors?and  so  many  pots?  buy  one  big  bag  of  the  same  colored  gravel,  maybe  black  ,or  white.  or  some  sand(difficult  to  clean)
then  then  add  some  rocks  on  some  big  PVC  pipes  to  crate  large  hiding  spots  for  the  knife(if  u  want  that).
that  would  be  good  to  start  out  with,  later  u  ll  catch  up  on  scaping  the  tank

I'm  sure  you  have  put  in  some  good  amount  of  effort  to  decorate  that  size  of  a  tank......  So  I  appreciate  that.  Thumb Up  But  in  my  opinion  the  tank  looks  quiet  messed  up.     Sad  As  said  by  the  people  above  try  to  stick  to  a  single  coloured  gravel  for  a  better  look.  I  can  see  that  the  thread  was  initiated  with  a  plan  for  a  cichlid  tank.  Why  did  you  change  your  mind????  Obviously  its  ok  if  you  want  to  stay  with  goldies  and  angels,  but  still  try  to  give  your  tank  a  more  natural  look.

P.S.  Ignore  my  comment  if  you  want  it  the  way  you  have  decorated.  Ultimately  beauty  lies  on  the  eye  of  the  person  looking  at  it.  I  just  gave  my  two  cents.....  Very Happy

@Mridul:  The  Goldie  and  Guppies  are  not  going  to  stay  in  the  tank  for  long,  it  is  for  cycling.  The  tank  has  been  cycling  for  3  weeks  now.

Going  to  buy  the  cichlids  this  weekend   Cheering

The  large  rocks  were  collected  from  a  small  construction  site  next  to  my  house,  so  didnt  get  the  scape  I  initially  thought  of,  have  to  get  some  good  ones  in  the  near  future.

As  im  planning  to  start  with  juveniles  the  pots  are  kept  for  them  to  hide  in,   they  are  going  to  be  removed  once  the  fish  have  outgrown  them.  Going  to  Place  a  couple  of  PVC  pipes  under  some  rocks  for  the  BGK's.

As  far  as  the  gravel  is  concerned,I  actually  like  the   large  river  pebbles  underneath,  each  one  is  having  a  different  pattern  on  it  and  are  quite  beautiful,  but  they  are  expensive  so  when  I  can  buy  more  of  ,  will  replace  the  marble  stones  with  them.  The  marble  stones  are  only  there  to  create  enough  substrate.

 Planned  Stocking:
 2  Oscars
 2  BGK
 2  Firemouths
 2-4  Convicts
 1  Male  GT
and  some  Tin  foil  barbs  or  silver  dollars.

Going  for  Juvelines  of  1.5  to  2  inch  size

 Regards,
 Venkat  Raju
