 Of  course  you  can!
As  a  matter  of  fact  your  discus  will  love  the  height.
But  think  thrice  before  using  it,  as  regular  maintenance  of  such  a  high  tank  would  be  extremely  difficult
Ask  me  for  I  have  suffered  a  lot  with  my  30"  high  tank!

Disclaimer:Just  the  views  of  a  non  expert! Please  ignore  at  will!

 Dear  Ramdas

Thats  quite  an  odd-sized  tank  but  will  work  for  discus.  But  as  pointed  out  by  Swarnendu,  maintenance  will  be  real  PITA.  And  as  you  know  how  much  maintenance  discus  tanks  require  in  terms  of  daily  water-changes.  If  you  are  ready  for  the  challenge,  just  move  ahead  with  discus  in  this  tank.  Have  seen  such  pillar-shaped  discus  tank  of  4'  height  with  adult  discus.  All  discus  looked  very  much  comfortable  inside  it.

I  had  somewhat  similar  24x12x24  tank  like  yours  which  I  used  as  QT.

 Should  do  fine  with  discus!

Discus  will  love  that  tank  so  will  you  as  the  height  makes  it  the  perfect  display  tank.  But  when  it  comes  to  maintenance,  you  will  have  to  use  some  smart  tools  bro.   Chuckle
Do  post  some  pics  and  vids  of  the  tank  once  it  is  set  up.  All  the  best.  Thumb Up

I  already  finding  it  difficult  to  carry  it  home  from  the  place  where  i  got  the  tank

10  mm  glass  on  all  sides  super  heavy.
but   you  dont   crib  about  a  gift  isn't  it..

 Go  ahead  and  use  it.
Just  ensure  sufficient  aeration  since  the  reduced  surface  area  can  reduce  the  oxygen  content  of  the  tank.
