 Hi,

 I  dont  know  if  anyone  has  tried  this.  Since  there  is  a  lot  of  speculation  that  Microsol  B  is  a  waste  product  and  CSM-B  has  to  be  ordered  online,  I  started  off  by  making  a  solution  of  15  Vitamin  Tabs  in  400ml  of  water.

 Vitamin  tabs  have  all  the  basic  micros  and  also  vitamins  that  help  the  fish  growth.

 My  initial  finings  was  that  my  fishes  look  more  colorful  and  active.  As  for  the  plants  it  seems  to  have  improved  a  lot.

 Let  me  know  what  you  all  think.  Need  to  really  research  this  to  get  the  exact  quantities  right.

 Regards.

 Uhh  I  think  all  of  you  have  your  fundas  very  very  wrong

 Microsol  B  and  CSM+B  are  micro  nutrient  FERTILIZERS  for  PLANTS.  Multi  vitamins  are  for  ANIMAL  HEALTH.

 Besides  mixing  of  mineral  and  vitamin  capsules  is  already  being  done  its  nothing  new.  Mostly  discus  keepers  mix  a  multivitamin,  spinach,  garlic  etc  in  their  Beef  Heart  and  other  home  recipes  while  feeding  their  fish.

 Many  of  the  good  brand  fish  foods  also  are  multivitamin  enriched.

 @Mortis

 abbas_basil  is  saying  that  he  is  mixing  15  vitamins  tablets  per  400  ml  of  water  for  micro  nutrient  for  plants  and  not  as  a  vitamin  source  for  the  fishes.
 @  abbas_basil
 do  correct  me  if  i  have  interpreted  your  posting  wrongly.

 Yes  I  do  know  that  mixing  vitamin  tabs  to  make  fish  food  is  not  something  new.  but  if  you  look  at  the  contents  of  vitamin  tabs  they  even  have  minerals  such  as  fe  mg  etc  etc.  I  think  this  would  be  a  good  substitue  for  microsol  until  a  good  variety  has  been  made  available.

 @Mansoor
 Yes  exactly  im  looking  to  use  vitamin  tabs  for  macros  for  the  plants.

 Cool  but  minerals  in  those  tabs  are  in  very  very  low  concentrations,  you  would  need  to  add  a  lot  more  than  15  tabs  in  a  400ml  solution  to  make  stock

 Ok  here  is  the  tablet  name  AtoZ  vitamin  tabs.  Could  some  of  the  experienced  members  have  a  look  and  see  if  this  would  help  the  plants.

 Also  where  can  I  easily  find  Microsol  B  in  South  Bangalore?  Is  it  worth  taking  the  effort  to  get  it.

 Abbas,
       The  only  place  where  I  know  you  get  Microsol-B  is  Vardhaman  Fertilizers  near  Hebbal  Flyover.  If  you  are  really  going  there  to  get  Microsol-B  you  could  also  get  their  Potassium  Sulphate  and  Potassium  Nitrate  mixes.  They  work  out  much  cheaper  than  lab  grade  chemicals.  I've  been  using  them  successfully  in  my  tanks  from  the  past  2-3  years.   (  Although  I  cannot  say  the  same  about  their  Microsol-B  .  I  prefer  other  Micro  nutrients  than  Microsol-B  )

 Hello  Prabhu,

 I  have  been  using  lab  grade  mixes  for  a  while  now.  Will  look  into  the  ones  available  in  Hebbal.

 Regards.

 Look  out  for  Hypervitaminosis  in  your  fish.

 I  dont  know  what  the  symptoms  in  fish  are  but  too  high  concentrations  in  humans  can  cause  a  lot  of  problems.

 Maybe  initially  they  mey  seem  fine,  but  its  the  long  term  that  worries  me.  Also  vitamins  have  a  dirty  habit  of  accumilating  in  organic  matter.

 Your  plants  and  other  biological  media  may  also  stand  the  risk  of  contamination.

 My  advise  is  go  low  and  go  slow.

 I  used  a  Multimineral  NUTRALITE  Multi  Vitamin  tablet  from  AMWAY  for  the  same  perpose.  I  have  yet  to  see  the  results.

 Well,  you  get  iron  tablets  in  store.  That  does  not  mean  that  you  can  just  powder  them  and  dump  into  your  tank  for  the  plants  to  absorb.(The  much  used  Zincovit  tonic  would  have  become  an  instant  hit  with  aquarists  if  so)  Plants  require  it  in  a  different  chelated  form.  Vitamins  are  anyway  not  needed  for  the  plants.  So  what  do  you  gain  by  dumping  these  tabs  into  the  tank?
 It  would  be  like  giving  you  intravenous  liquid  spinach  and  expecting  your  body  to  use  all  the  vitamins  in  it.....

 Macros  -  Very  easy  to  get  from  chemical  labs.

 Micros  -  Don't  think  these  multivitamins  will  work  out.  If  at  all  they  have  zinc,  mg,  fe,  cu,  they  might  not  be  in  a  plant  usable  form....
