I have seen a lot of videos of Discus and neons together, but I want to know if really small neons will not be eaten by big Discus fish? |

Never seen a neon getting mauled by discus but observed frequent aggressive attempts and suspicious reduction in neon numbers. So it is better to be careful. |

Neon tetras can put with discus But the temperature of 27-28 degree which is good for discus will be higher temperature for neon.
if we keep jevenile discus with neons , it will not be a problem. but if we introduce neons in a tank with grown up discus it will cause problems.
Rescently i had faced the same problem. Now i am not using any heater for my discus and i had introduces 6 neons and 2 small corydores in my discus tank. discus are ablut 4.5 to 6 inch size.they started attacking the corydores and killed one of my neon tetras. So i removed all the neons and cory form the discus tank.
I wondered because i had kept neons, danisoni etc with the same discus in their jevenile stage in planted.
Now the neons and corydores are with my 1.5 inch discus in another tank till now they are doing good.
Please note that . it is better to keep Cardinal tetras with jevenile discus with a temperature of 27-28.
if you kept neons with discus in 28 degree, the health of neons will reduce gradually... |

Hi elimoses3,
There are lot of photo shoot in internet.
> Like neon with Discus
>Discus in Planted tanks and more.
Please don't rely on this. Ask people for their practical experience. |

I have kept neons with my 4 inch discuses. But it was a bad experience bro....Everyday I used to see my neon's half eaten dead bodies...Don't keep them with each other. If you can keep them from the very beginning, like when the discuses are smaller in size, it may be a possibility, but otherwise I don't think it as a good idea. Rather you can try with cardinals. They shouldn't have any problems. |

I had tried to keep neons with discus. They last for a few days depending on the water temp and size of the tank. But over a period of time the no. will definitely reduce. Many a times I had seen neons being ambushed in early morning hours when they are little sluggish and the Discus are hungry. |

In general, I feel that Neon Tetra should be kept only with other fish having same / smaller size than itself.
Otherwise, there is every chance that Neon will be eaten.
Recently I bought 2 pairs of Neon and within 2 days, they were vanished & no trace could be found. |
