 Hi  Friends,

Today  i  saw  these  minute  white  worms  or  parasites  crawling  on  my  aquarium  glass.
They  are  4-5mm  in  length  and  building  up  rapidly  on  the  glass.

I'm  worried  that  these  parasites  may  cause  harm  to  my  fishes  (neon's  &  guppies)
Tank  is  20  days  old,  planted  tank.  Had  dosed  DIY  CO2  twice  last  week.  With  weekly  30%  water  change.  Till  now  i  have  not  dosed  any  conditioners  or  ferts  and  I'm  using  corporation  water  directly.

Pls  do  help  me  out  finding  the  cause  and  remedy  to  eliminate  this  worm.

 Thanks,
 Shreyas  C

 Hey  Shreyas

These  are  planaria  worms.......I  had  an  outburst  in  one  of  my  Discus  tanks  a  couple  of  years  ago......
They  arise  due  uneaten  food  leftover  at  the  bottom  of  your  tank,  and  within  time  multiply  and  are  all  over.......
Don't  worry  they're  harmless,  they  wont  affect  the  fishes......

 Treatment-
1.Reduce  the  amount  of  feeding  to  your  fish,  planaria  thrive  on  uneaten  leftovers.......
With  no  food  at  the  bottom,  they'll  start  dying........
 2.  You  can  also  introduce  a  couple  of  apple  snails  or  a  black  molly,  they  love  to  gorge  on  planaria  ........

Partial  Water  changes  every  2  days  would  also  help  get  rid  of  these  and  the  algae  on  your  glass.......

 Kind  regards
 Troy

I  see  them  in  my  shrimp  and  otto  tank.  I  can't  put  any  other  fish  since  I  see  a  lot  of  shrimp  fries  moving  around.  Tried  putting  black  molly  fries  but  then  the  shrimps  were  disturbed  so  took  them  out.  Can  I  let  the  worms  live  in  the  tank  till  my  shrimp  population  goes  up?  Will  it  contaminate  if  left  unchecked  for  a  long  time?  I  havent  fed  anything  in  that  tank  for  the  last  10  days,  and  I  saw  these  small  worms  since  wednesday.

These  guys  are  harmless......They  wont  contaminate  your  water  nor  poison  your  fish.........
Get  an  apple  snail  if  possible......
Otherwise,  though  this  may  sound  unusual,  squash  a  few  of  them  in  the  tank  &  in  time  you'll  see  that  they  have  decreased  in  numbers,  maybe  out  of  fright  or  something  else   Smile.......
 Eventually  they'll  disaapear.....

 Kind  Regards
 Troy

I  had  these  in  my  Shrimp  only  tank.  I  simply  used  a  thin  tube,  (used  for  air  pumps)  to  siphon  out  these  out  of  the  tank.  Of  course  you  need  some  patience.  These  will  make  good  food  for  Bettas.

 Good  morning  all,

Today  I  have  added  one  more  tank  to  increase  my  fish  collection.  I  filled  up  a  tank  with  tap  water  stored  in  the  overhead  tank  also  added  regular  declorinator.  To  increase  the  cycling  process  and  aeration  I  used  my  sponge  filter  from  my  existing  guppy  tank.I  put  the  filter  directly  into  the  new  tank  without  rinsing  it  also  added  few  of  the  decorating  item  from  my  old  stock  which  i  was  not  using  for  a  longer  time  for  my  other  tanks.   I  had  washed  those  item  throroughly  before  adding  into  new  tank. After  two  hours  as  the  fresh  filled  water  is  crystal  clean  and  no  fish  added  till  now  I  have  noticed  some  white  thread  like  worms  wriggling  in  the  tank  water  and  some  white  residue  may  be  the  dirt  or  food  particles  which  were  accumalated  in  the  sponge  filter  floating  in  the  new  tank.  Are  these  worms  are  same  as  stated  above  and  are  they  harmless?  I  don't  have  any  pics  to  post.
Please  guide  me  on  this  and  suggest  remedies,  if  any.  I  don't  want  to  goof  up  this  time  as  i  had  aleady  lost  my  lost  of  fishes  in  my  one  of  the  bigger  tank  some  time  back  due  to  unknown  reason.
I  am  planning  to  new  fishes  in  day  or  two.  Please  help.

 Regards,
 Sameer
