I  have  a  4.5"  flowerhorn  (pictures  included)  purchased  on  6th  May  2012.  She  was  eating  so  well  (Ocean  Free  products)  at  the  shop  for  more  than  3  weeks.  I  brought  it  home  into  my  225  ltr  tank  and  She  ate  ocean  free  for  2  days  along  with  2  small  mollies  i  had  in  the  tank.  Since  9th  May  she  is  refusing  to  eat  anything  and  even  killed  one  of  the  plecos  but  didnt  eat.  She  looks  fine  and  swimming  as  normal.

I  tried  dosing  tetracycline  for  2  days  and  Metronidazole  for  another  3  days  (400mg  per  50  ltr)  Also  used  Methylyn  blue  and  Flavin  medications  as  per  the  directions  but  still  not  eating.  Changed  water  around  25-30%  during  the  medications.  Always  add  non-iodised  salt  during  WC's.

My  water  temperature  was  at  24C  due  to  AC  in  my  room  and  now  I  bumped  it  up  to  28-29C  via  heater.  My  tank  was  cycled  since  2010  but  before  i  put  in  the  FH  i  did  some  changes.  Removed  around  80%  of  the  old  gravel,  sand,  soil  and  replaced  it  with  new  sand  and  gravel  added  some  live  plants  and  made  a  cave  with  rocks  for  the  FH.  I  am  not  sure  if  the  cause  of  FH  not  eating  is  due  to  tank  being  re-cycled  again  due  to   the  changes  in  gravel.

I  did  80%  WC  on  23th  May  and  added  salt.

When  I  feed  him  the  dry  food  she  just  spits  it  out  so  after  10  minutes  i  just  take  it  out  and  throw  it  away.  I  dont  see  any  abnormal  physical  injuries  or  deformities.

Now  i  am  thinking  of  dosing  Epsom  Salt  (Magnesium  Sulphate)  thinking  she  is  constipating.  I  dont  see  any  poop  coming  out  of  her  neither  do  i  see  any  remaining  inside  the  tank.

I  also  soaked  her  food  in  garlic  juice  and  offered  her  but  she  does  not  even  come  close.  Before  she  takes  in  and  spits  it  out  but  now  she  does  not  even  come  close  to  the  food.

She  might  be  constipated.  Try  feeding  some  boiled  peas  without  the  skin

He  picked  couple  of  tetra  bits  last  night...  i  tried  peas  but  refuses.  Spent  around  1K  on  Ocean  Free  humpy  head,  starry  sparkle,  red  head  etc....so  if  he  refuses  to  eat  those  then  its  a  loss....

Added  some  Magnesium  Sulphate  (epsom  salt)  and  1200mg  of  Metronidazole  last  night.  He  ate  after  the  two  meds  were  added....not  sure???

Stop  adding  meds,  if  you  are  not  sure  of  the  problem.
A  fish  in  a  new  tank  takes  some  time  to  settle,  just  keep  on  changing  water  and  add  some  salt.
Have  patience,  the  fish  does  not  look  to  be  sick.
