Do  not  go  in  for  Second  and  stuff.
An  aquarium  of  that  size  will  not  be  very  costly.
 Go  in  for  new  stuff.
Price  discussions  are  not  allowed  on  IAH,  please  go  through  guidelines.
Check  prices  at  2-3  places  and  you  will  get  a  idea.

purchase  a  small  internal  power  filter,  substrate  can  be  regular  gravel  in  aquariums.
It  should  not  have  big  particles.  Lighting  can  be  20  watt  cfl.
What  fish  are  you  planning  on  keeping.  There  is  weekly  aquarist  meet  in  bangalore,  attending  it  would  be  very  helpfull.

All  filters  are  decent,  untill  they  get  dirty  inside  a  tank  Chuckle  .

First  decide  the  size  LXBXH  of  Tank  and  its  volume  GALLONS.

Then  as  per  gallons  you  need  time.  for  e.g  1000  Lit/Hr  cycle/circulation  mechanical  filter.

Since  you  are  thinking  of  a  small  planted  tank,  read  everything  about  NANO  tanks,  you  feel  much  comfortable  to  decide.

   Cheer Up

For  a  2  feet  tank  you  can  go  in  for  a  internal  filter  as  suggested  by  sandeep,  you  will  get  many  options  in  that  ,  dont  go  for  cheap  ones  since  they  will  be  useless,  buy  something  in  range  of  Rs  7XX  (hope  this  is  allowed)  .you  will  also  get  filters  with  sponge, gravel  and  ceramic  rings  all  in  one,  i  am  just  using  a  sponge  filter  for  my  two   2  feet  planted  CRS  and  shrimps  tank  ,  and  the  water  is  very  good  and   clear.  i  suggest  a  36  W  Pl  light  since  i  am  using  that  for  my  two  feeter.

 Regards
 Asif

Abhijit  buying  and  paying  decision  is  all  of  yours,  now  dont  tell  me  that  you  dont  know  how  check  articles  you  buy.
quotes  are  your  discretion  based  on  you  requirements  and  assesment.
how  can  you  ask  a  person  sitting  in  Mumbai  or   Kanyakumari  about  quotes  opinion  in  Bangalore  just  looking  at  the  murky  images?   Smile
go  and  find  out  the  price  for  new  one  and  decide  the  price  and  freeze  it  .

Further  if  the  dealer  is  experienced  in  fish  keeping  he  can  make  out  a  newbee  however  you  read  those  writesups  on  google
without  experience   new  will  be  new!

 Hello  Abijith!
I  would  probably  go  with  an  HOB  (hang  on  back)  filter  than  an  internal  one  for  a  planted  aquarium.  Finding  an  HOB  for  a  2ft  aquarium  shouldn't  be  all  that  difficult.  You  always  have  the  option  to  go  with  a  canister  filter  (which  is  kind  of  expensive)  Very Happy.

 Cheers
 Kiran

 Abhijit,

The  tank  you  are  planning  is  67.5  liters. For  a  heavy  planted  tank  you  should  have  a  filter  of  atleast  (6  times  the  tank  capacity)/hour.

So  you  can  go  for  a  filter  above  405  liter/hour.
In  filter  types  you  have  many  options.  Since  you  are  new  to  this  hobby  you  can  use  a  over  the  top  filter(I  have  seen  this  type  in  Boyu). The  price  is  in  the  range  of  7xx.It  has  enough  space  for  filter  media  and  all. You  can  check  this  link  for  details  http://gdboyu.en.alibaba.com/productshowimg/258685859-209527759/Upper_filter_UF_100.html

You  can  change  the  power  head  of  this  filter  for  little  amount. The  shop  keepers  will  generally  exchange  the  power  head  attached  to  it  as  per  your  need.
You  need  to  keep  a  over  rated  power  head  filter  for  more  flow.  I  keep  a  600liter/hour  power  head  for  my  2  feeter  tank  of  75  liters.
I  have  ceramic  ring  sponge  as  media......

 Happy  fish  keeping

if  you  are  going  for  HOB  buy  a  1000  liter/hour  one  since  the  flow  rate  of  HOB  is  very  low  than  it  is  rated
