Are you decholrinator with your tap water.
The chlorine in your water might be causing bacterial bloom in your tank.
It would kill all bacteria. |

Is there any dead fish in your tank? extra food settled down on he soil? is there enough soil for the roots to get covered? Post a pciture with a gloom. Your NEW filter has not yet settled IMO- it will take quite some time for ehiem filter to settle-about 6 to 8 weeks (I have read it on one thread here). Use old stored water for a while. |

Filter Floss will help. It catches fine particles too.
I have Seachems Regular Flourite in my tank. When I first started with a planted tank my water was a bit cloudy.
Seachem has a product called Clarity which they recommended using along with Flourite but I never did and just used Filter Floss and within a couple of hours the water gets clear. After 24 hours it gets as clean as bottled Bisleri water.
In my Powerhead filter I have two filters. One is the regular sponge that comes along with the filter and the filter floss is wrapped around the sponge. When I clean the filters I clean only one of them at a time to ensure the older one still has good bacteria media. Clean the sponge / filter floss using only aquarium water and NEVER use tap/fresh water.
Some filters also come with Carbon. Carbon also makes water crystal clear. garothmaan has experimented with carbon and can give you some advice |

Please Dont use active carbon yet, when you already have ehiem.
But for just information and sharing knowledge .......
Thanks Pio, Yes active carbon as media in filters, clears water in just less than 20 mins.
I have tested it. Only fact now remains in that experiment is the exact property values in DATA.
I will get it tested in a lab once I finish my large cannister filter project. I have tested this water I actualy drank it |

In my opinion if the substrate is getting disturbed during water change it should get settled during the day, it should not continue for 3-4 days.
In planted tank it settles even faster.
Only bacterial blooms last that much, and if they are occurring every time you change your water, then there is something that is killing bacteria in your tank.
Or something is reacting in your tank with the water.
BTW isn't 2217 underpowered for a tank of this size. |

I dont think any of the plants require bacteria for their growth.
|
Plants do require bacteria and fungi. Plant root and leaf region have loads of them. In the complete absence of Microbes, 90% of terrestrial plants cannot survive however well developed their root system is. Eg. VAM and AM fungi are required for assimilation of Phosphate by plants. Plants as such cannot take Phosphate into its system like it takes water.
But I really don't know If this is the reason for a strict NO NO to UV in planted tank

1
Tap water = Metro water or Sump water supplied by lorry?
2 days is the time taken for metro water/Sump water to clear up totally. Both will have micro dust in them
2
Only on water change cloudy ness happen, then watch out for the base getting disturbed by the new water's flow or some thing like that.
bacteria boom will be the least probable for the whiteness after water change. |

Sandeep-
But i don't think that the substrate is getting disturbed. Is this happening when i use the water which is stored for 3-4 days.??? What do you think? After your suggestion i went to my water tank(used for storing water only for my tank) and came to know that that water is having a smoky effect from there itself .
So i think that the problem lies with the water from the tank.
What will i do now friends????
Regarding 2217 it is not underpowered as it is 1000l/hr and my tank is only approximately 180L, which make this a 5 time circulation. |

Thanks to all of you who helped me.
Got the root cause. It is from the stored Tank water itself the smoke effect is happening which i use here.
Identified the problem now need the solution for this. |
