Hello
I am new to planted aquariums. I have been raising fish for long with plastic plants. Recently i removed all the plastic plants and started introducing live plants in my aquarium.
My aquarium setup is as follows
Tank size : 36" L, 24" H, 12" W
I have UGF which i havent removed with chips as substrate
I have planted the plants in this without disturbing my setup
Lighting 1X20W,1X18W with a top having a reflector.
I do water changes ones a month about (60%)
I have planted Cabomba(red) which grew very fast after i planted(It reached the top in one week.). But it is not showing all that red colour now and that vigorous growth stopped.
I have one amezone sword which is growing very slow.
I have java moss fixed to driftwood which is growing but it is dark green in color.
I have guppy grass, which is not growing but still alive
I have one rotala green which looks ok
This low tech tank. Now i feel that my tank needs to be fertilized.
I have been wondering where i would get these chelated micro nutrients, on reading the posts in this forum i could get some idea about them.
Are these Vardhaman fertilizers availabe in Hyderabad?
And i need someone to guide me on fertilizing my tank.

If you want to have plants in this setup, you will have to make some changes.
(1)Remove UGF, it is never a good idea in a planted tank. Plants need substrate near their roots. UGF make the substrate too aerobic, which is not good for plants.
(2) Chips are again not good for planted tank, they make the water hard.
(3) Read more on planted tanks.
(4) Your lights are very low, plants will not grow in this light.
(5) What growth you are witnessing is due to nutrients accumulated in plants. Once they are exhausted, the plant will suffer.

Rip off everything and start new.... Use ADA soil with river sand. no ferts at all, go for neon tetras or endlers or mix with large qty of shrimps...... Add diy co2 and a good eheim canister. lights go for led flood lights as they have been best for me and have been using them since a year now with success.
