Make sure you dont overfeed your bettas....bettas like all fishes have natural instinct of eating a lot.
Since in wild or in natural habitat, food is not available all time...they eat max wen offered.
As you identified, those worms are found in water , black in color and of same dimensions.
Even I have too found them and purposefully kept a small tub to feed my bettas.
I feed mine twice in a week, They are not mosquito larvae. |

In my case, I leave them on the terrace, it attracts a lot of insects, that lay eggs.
You can drop one or 2 leaves and it will attract insects and invite them to lay eggs...
I dont feed them anything...
If you can catch them and put it in water without any fishes...they might survice for a day or 2.
I usually catch them aand feed them immediatly |

they could be blackworms. one of the popular live foods used worldwide. once u get the pics, we will know for sure. see pictures of Lumbriculus variegatus in google images, to confirm if these are the same worm or not. |

The most amazing live food lives around us, if we respect nature and look hard!
i found native white worms in Delhi in 2008 and in 2009 i found microfex> Because of the internet, i was able to identify each, and not only used them successfully, but distributed to others. now when i lose my own culture, i get it back! |
