Make  sure  you  dont  overfeed  your  bettas....bettas  like  all  fishes  have  natural  instinct  of  eating  a  lot.
Since  in  wild  or  in  natural  habitat,  food  is  not  available  all  time...they  eat  max  wen  offered.
As  you  identified,  those  worms  are  found  in  water  ,  black  in  color  and  of  same  dimensions.
Even  I  have  too  found  them  and  purposefully  kept  a  small  tub  to  feed  my  bettas.
I  feed  mine  twice  in  a  week,  They  are  not  mosquito  larvae.

In  my  case,  I  leave  them  on  the  terrace,  it  attracts  a  lot  of  insects,  that  lay  eggs.
You  can  drop  one  or  2  leaves  and  it  will  attract  insects  and  invite  them  to  lay  eggs...
 I  dont  feed  them  anything...
If  you  can  catch  them  and  put  it  in  water  without  any  fishes...they  might  survice  for  a  day  or  2.
I  usually  catch  them  aand  feed  them  immediatly

they  could  be  blackworms.  one  of  the  popular  live  foods  used  worldwide.  once  u  get  the  pics,  we  will  know  for  sure.  see  pictures  of  Lumbriculus  variegatus  in  google  images,  to  confirm  if  these  are  the  same  worm  or  not.

The  most  amazing  live  food  lives  around  us,  if  we  respect  nature  and  look  hard!

i  found  native  white  worms  in  Delhi  in  2008  and  in  2009  i  found  microfex>  Because  of  the  internet,  i  was  able  to  identify  each,  and  not  only  used  them  successfully,  but  distributed  to  others.  now   when  i  lose  my  own  culture,  i  get  it  back!
