Ya maaaaan it is very different, I saw this first time. Arent they suppose to grow towards light?, may be your ferts are wrong. Are you sure CO2 is working properly. Infact when I brought those amazons they were curly and now they are straight and up. |

I would never dose something in my tank if I do not know its composition.
Start dosing with a fertilizer whose components are known.
In addition to leafs curling, they are also signs of green algae and black fuzz algae.
What is your water change frequency.
In a low tech tank it is difficult to have a micro deficiency, a proper fertilizer routine will help. |

This looks like Calcium deficiency....... You can find more details Here
Try adding some borewell water, if your water is too soft. Could CaC03 ( Calcium Carbonate ) be added to help, I wonder ?!

How old is this tank, what is your water source.
It is a nutrient issue without any doubt, however in absence of information on dosing in the tank it is can be guesswork only.
Is the problem visible in new leaves, old leaves or all leaves. |

Hi
Problem is with root feeder plants. I dont see any issue with liquid fert. I am using the same fert by affable aquarium in my 14 gallons with great results.
You have red soil topped with coarse sand as substrate. Red soil provides basic nutrients but sand is neutral substrate. By the pic it seems substrate is 2 inches thick . I derive that red sand is only 1 inches thick. If tank is old enough that most probably nutrients are consumed by now and time to change substrate. Dont use coarse sand this time as it adds no value to tank . Use laterite + red soil or any branded substrate.
Black algae is typical result of DIY Co2. Yeast Co2 supply is always irregular and leads to black algae. Since you are in Mumbai, pls visit Nautilus . Bandra and buy Azoo Carbon plus. In longer run it will be more economical then yeast CO2.
What filteration you use. Cardinal is not showing its true colors and seems stressed. For a cycled tank 30 -40% water change is the norm. |

thanks for the replies, the substrate i have is red soil topped by golden sand, it contains lot of shells, have added a few big literate stones, which should leach iron. Is there any fertilizers that can be added to substrate directly. The fishes are neon tetra's not cardinals |

Iron deficiency doesnt cause leaf curl. Try root tabs available at Nautilus or Aquanature Borivali. Root tabs supply nutrients thru roots to plant. They are recommended when substrate quality has depleted. |

Sorry if the name's not proper, that's what the vendor told me regarding the sand. I did a 60-70 % water change(tap water) today, added the liquid fertilizers and ceramic rings to the overhead filter. Can blue green algae cause leafs to curl, as i was planning to do an antibiotic treatment for the same. can anybody suggest the proper technique - will teramycin do the job. asking because my vals, bacopa, dwarf chain grass are not having any damage on them. same with banana plant. |
