Hi,  Nice  one!!  For  the  background,  go  for  white  or  light/sky  blue  colours.  Don't  use  Black  colour.  The  white  or  blue  colours  would  reflect  some  light  energy  which  would  provide  'extra'  lighting  for  the  plants,  which  IMO  the  black  colour  wouldn't  help.  Also,  the  white  background  will  give  a  more  natural  look  than  a  black  one.

 Hi  All,

The  planting  is  still  pending  as  my  Lights  are  yet  to  arrive  from  the  shop.
 I  have  a  doubt....
For  this  tank  after  2  months  of  set  up  I  am  planning  to  add  DIY  fertiliser  and  below  is  my  plan

MACRO(600ml  bottle  containing  KNO3  –  80  gm,Monopotassium  Phosphate  -15gm(As  per  my  calculation  it  should  have  been  17  gms  but  I  reduced  it  first  since  I  have  only  15  gms  with  me  and  also  I  consider  feeding  fishes  in  the  tank  will  fill  up  the  remaining))
 DOSAGE
 20ml  (Monday,Wednesday,Friday)

 Potassium
(600  ml  bottle  containing  potassium  sulphate  –  40  gm)
DOSAGE  -  20ml  (Monday,Wednesday,Friday)(This  is  calculated  considering  that  the  main  macro  solution  will  provide  the  rest  of  the  potassium)

 MICRO(600  ml  bottle  containing  CSM+B  -  15  gm)
 DOSAGE  -  20ml  (Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday)

Now  I  have  some  red  plants  like  Ludwigia  arcuata  ,Limnophila  aromatica  and  Rotola  rotundifoila  red
Since  I  am  aiming  for  the  proper  red  coluration  I  am  planning  to  dose  some  extra  iron.
I  have  15  gms  of  chelated  iron  with  me  so  kindly  let  me  know  on  how  to  proceed  with  extra  iron  dosing.
Also  KJindly  verify  if  my  dosage  is  correct.  I  had  gone  through  Tom  Barrs  link  for  calculating  all  these  but  I  still  need  some  experts  comments  on  these

 @  Jabba

 Limnophila  aromatica  and  Rotola  rotundifoila

nitrate  try  to  keep  level  less  than  10ppm
 Phosphate  -  1  to  2ppm
 C02  -  20-30ppm
 Iron  .5ppm+

As  You  are  planning  for  EI,  it  would  generally  be  in  the   following  range,

 NO3  range  5-30  ppm
 PO4  range  1.0-2.0  ppm

check  for  uptake  levels  before  dosing,  or  you  can  make  separate  solution  for  nitrate  and  phosphate  and  dose  accordingly..

I  am  not  sure  about  Ludwigia  arcuata

 Regards,
 Senthil

Jabba  I  think  dosing  20ml  of  Macro  is  bit  high  for  the  size  of  tank  you  have,  I  dose  20ml  on  my  90G  tank  !  I  used  Chucks  Gaads  Calculator  for  my  dosing  needs  and  its  calculator  shows  19.5ml  for  my  tank.  According  to  the  same  calculator  the  recipe  for  Macro  is  25gms  of  KNO3,  5.8gms  of  KH2PO4  and  11gms  of  K2SO4  in  500ml  water.

Again  from  the  same  calculator  I  am  using  20gms  of  CSM+B  in  500ml  water.  My  red  plants  are  still  red  and  the  new  shoots  are  also  red.  I  will  also  be  dosing  extra  iron  after  sometime  @  10ml  every  alternate  days  with  the  Micros.

 Thank  you  aqua2k  and  Ruchit.

@ruchit:  Can  you  provide  me  a  link  to  Chucks  Gaads  Calculator.
Also  since  my  tank  is  180  liter  after  the  hardscape(47  gallon)  I  think  I  can  go  with  half  the  amount  of  solution  that  you  are  adding.  In  that  case   shall  I  follow  the  below

 Macro
 Macro  is  25gms  of  KNO3,  5.8gms  of  KH2PO4  and  11gms  of  K2SO4  in  500ml  water.

And  dose  it  as  10  ml  on  Monday,Wednesday,Friday

 Micro

I  have  only  15  gm  of  CSM  +  B  with  me  so  if  I  mix  it  with  500  ml  water  how  much  of  that  solution  should  I  dose  on  Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday.

 Iron

How  much  chelated  Iron  should  I  need  to  mix  in  500  ml  and  what  amount  of  that  solution  needs  to  be  added  along  with  Micro.

Thanks  a  lot  for  the  help  and  apologies  for  asking  too  many  questions

Hey  Jabba  this  is  the  schedule  what  I  follow.  I  am  following  the  Chucks  Gaads  PMDD  method.

 Daily  Schedule

Sunday            50%  water  change.  Add  Macros
 Monday            Add  (CSM+B)
 Tuesday            Add  Macros
 Wednesday Add  (CSM+B)
 Thursday            Add  Macros
 Friday            Add  (CSM+B)
 Saturday            Rest  day

 Dosing  Method

2  ml  of  Macros  per  10  gallons
1  ml  of  Micros   per  10  gallons

Chuck  Gaad's  website  has  been  dead  for  years.  Thanks  to  Shelly  (josyjames)  in  helping  me  to  find  these  information  and  calculating  the  ferts  for  my  tank.   However  you  can  download  the  software  from  here.  I  also  have  an  MS  Excel  sheet  of  the  Chucks  dosing  regime  to  which  I  can  mail  you  if  necessary.

 http://web.archive.org/web/20080601051640/http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_aquacalc.htm

Regarding  Iron  I  am  yet  to  start  dosing  it  and  the  preparation  for  it  would  be  42.5gms  in  500ml  water.

Dont  stress  with  such  precision.  Its  the  ESTIMATIVE  index  after  all.  You  can  prepare  stock  solutions  for  your  tank  as  follows  :

note  tsp  means  a  lightly  heaped  teaspoon

 Macros  :  8  tsp  KNO3  +  2  tsp  K2SO4  +  2  tsp  kh2po4  in  600ml  WARM  water.  Dose  15ml  3x  a  week.  Thsi  is  a  two  month  recipe

 Micros  :  2  tsp  CSM+B  in  600ml  water.  Dose  15ml  3x  a  week

You  can  also  add  around  2  of  those  small  packets  of  epsoms  salts  to  your  macros  solution  (if  you  can  get  it  to  dissolve)  or  prepare  a  separate  stock  of  MG  in  another  bottle  and  dose  that  as  well

If  you  see  any  deficiencies  in  the  plants  then  increase  the  amt  in  the  stock  solutions  accordingly  other  wise  relax  and  make  sure  other  parameters  such  as  flow  and  CO2  are  well  taken  care  of
