 Hi,

Has  anyone  bought  anything  from  Aquabid.com?  This  is  the  address  of  the  site.

 http://www.aquabid.com/

I  was  planning  to  get  some  cherry  red  shrimp  from  the  site.  If  any  one  has  bought  anything  from  this  site  please  post  your  experience.

 Regards,

 Sridhar,

Sounds  good.  You  could  buy  from  the  guy  who  runs  canadianshrimp.com  .  He  has  advertised  on  Aquabid,  and  sounds  good  too.

Should  be  great  if  we  could  club  orders  together.  You  can  buy  8  or  10  of  them  for  me.

I  have  looked  around  on  Aquabid  a  few  times  but  I  ve  never  seen  anyone  who  ships  abroad.  Most  of  it  is  to  US  only.

 Nitin,

In  case  I  am  ordering  them  i  will  let  you  know  so  that  we  can  combine  things  and  it  will  help  us  in  saving  the  shipping  cost.  I  am  looking  if  someone  else  is  also  interested.

 Pradeep,

There  are  some  sellers  who  ship  things  worldwide  also.  Just  look  at  guys  who  have  globe  icon  besides  them.

 Regards,

 Hi:

I'm  a  registered  member  at  Aquabid...

Though  I've  own  many  bids  previously,  the  climant  person  will  finally  say  shipping  will  be  confined  to  US  only...as  otherwise,  it'll  cost  a  bomb  on  transportation  plus  the  documentation  work  has  to  be  intact  from  our  end  AFA  Customs  clearence...

 Bye,

You  will  be  able  to  purchase  shrimps  at  far  cheaper  rates  in  SE  Asia.  As  Nag  said,  most  sellers  in  N  America  will  not  ship  live  animals  outside  the  continent  and  shipping  in  most  cases  will  be  more  than  the  cost  of  the  item.

 Nag,

Is  this  applicable  to  the  fishes  also  or  are  you  talking  about  the  equipments.

Does  any  one  know  any  LFS  in  South  East  Asia  who  can  ship  the  shrimps  to  India.

 Sridhar,

I  am  also  interested  in  getting  the  Cherry  Red  Shrimps.....

but  buying  from  aquabid  would  be  very  costly  (definitely  transportaion  would  be  x  times  greater  than  the  shrimp's  price  itself).......

as  Rahul  suggests,  if  someone  could  source  it  from  Singapore  that  would  work  out  cheap  for  us........

I  think  you  could  contact  aquadip2000  on  this.......

 Hi  All.

I  have  been  buying  books  from  Aquabid.com  and  somethimes  have  enquired  about  the  plants  as  well  mostly  from  Singapore  dealers.  Live  fish  &  shrimp  is  a  problem  for  sure  outside  the  US.

If  you  are  looking  at  the  shrimps  you  could  look  at  the  following  shrimps  with  in  India....

These  are  becoming  very  popular,  eat  green  hair  algae.  They  are  about  the  same  size  as  a  Red  Cherrys  or  maybe  a  hair  bigger.  Combats  Green  Hair  Algae.

 More  Info  :-  http://www.petshrimp.com/rednoseshrimp.html

 3.  White  Spotted  Pearl  Shrimp  (Macrobrachium  mirabile)  formerly  known  as  "Snowflake  Shrimp"
Size:  2"    pH:  versatile      Temp:  versatile    Origin:  India

 More  Info  :-  http://www.petshrimp.com/pearlshrimp.html

 4.  Green  Shrimp  (Caridina  cf.  babaulti)
 Size:  2.5-3.5cm
 Temperature:  best  kept  at  73°F-78°F

 More  info:-  http://www.petshrimp.com/greenshrimp.html

 5.  Indian  Whitebanded  Shrimp  (Caridina  sp.)
 Size:  2.5-3cm
 Temperature:  best  kept  at  72°F-80°F
Food:  Algae,  fish  food  (flake,  pellets  etc)
Water  Parameters:    Needs  soft  to  medium  hard,  alkaline  water  over  the  long  run.  Should  not  be  kept  in  acidic  water  at  all.
Origin:  India  (probably  around  Calcutta),  might  be  more  widely  spread  in  south  Asia.

 More  info  :-  http://www.petshrimp.com/indianwhitebandedshrimp.html

 6.  Rusty  Macro  (Macrobrachium  sp.)
Size:  up  to  8cm  (excluding  claws)  for  males,  up  to  6.5  cm  for  females
 Temperature:  best  kept  at  72°F-80°F
Water  Parameters:    Needs  soft  to  medium  hard,  alkaline  water  over  the  long  run.  Should  not  be  kept  in  acidic  water  at  all.
Food:  fish  food  (flake,  pellets  etc),  hair  and  string  algae,  "anything  edible"

 7.  Red  Claw  Macro  Macrobrachium  cf.  assamense  or  possibly  Macrobrachium  cf.  dayanum  (belongs  to  the  Macrobrachium    hendersoni  species  complex)

Size:  up  to  8cm  (excluding  claws)  for  males,  up  to  6  cm  for  females
 Temperature:  best  kept  at  72°F-80°F
Water  Parameters:  Needs  soft  to  medium  hard,  alkaline  water  over  the  long  run.  Should  not  be  kept  in  acidic  water  at  all.
Food:  fish  food  (flake,  pellets  etc),  hair  and  string  algae,  "anything  edible"
Origin:  India  (However,  M.  hendersoni  species  complex  is  more  widely  spread  in  south  Asia)

 More  info  :-    http://www.petshrimp.com/redclawmacro.html

So  If  anybody  can  source  these  shrimps  locally  in  India  why  do  we  need  to  import,  surely  somebody  will  be  dealing  with  all  this  in  India  itself.

 Regards

 Sujoy

I  am  in  touch  with  couple  of  the  sellers  from  Aquabid.com  regarding  the  shipping  of  the  shrimps  to  Bangalore.  They  have  told  me  that  they  will  give  me  the  approximate  cost  by  the  end  of  day.  Let  us  see  how  it  goes.  Another  thing  that  I  wanted  to  know  is  that  if  the  shipping  cost  is  reasonable  and  we  go  ahead  and  place  the  order  will  there  be  any  problems  with  the  customs.

I  have  got  reply  from  one  of  the  seller.  This  is  the  item  descriptrion.

 http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwinverts&1149772290

This  is  the  reply  i  got  from  him.

Quote:
"(for  this  package,  there  is  a  $7  credit  for  international  buyer)

Shipping  to  India  will  be  $36  by  EMS.  Therefore  total  will  be  $98  (69+36-7).  You  can  Paypal  the  payment  to  spywindows  [at]  comcast  [dot]  net.

 Max

Note  1:    I  would  like  to  suggest  that  you  get  the  $99  (breeding  colony  with  5  pregnant  females)  if  you  will  split  the  shrimps  with  others.  For  this  one,  it  is  $128  (99+36-7)

Note  2:  My  impression  is  that  many  areas  are  hot  in  India.  Cherry  red  shrimps  can  take  30C.  They  can  live  in  lower  30s  for  a  short  period  of  time  but  they  may  get  weaken  or  sick  in  30s.  24-28  would  be  te  best.

Note  3:  Cherry  red  shrimps  like  hard  water  and  PH  >  7  (7-Cool.  They  do  poorly  in  soft  and/or  acid  water.

Note  4:  To  get  the  best  color  (to  have  them  improve  their  color),  I  suggest  tat  you  use  dark  color  or  black  gravel  or  sand."
