Superbsite-  why  dont  we  give  Mortis  a  little  solution  for  getting  it  diluted  in  proper  proportions  if  he  doesnot  mind?  meanwhile  I'll  check  if  we  have  a  lab  in  my  area  of  that  guy  who  manufacturers  for  these  shops.

You  get  Cidex  in  some  of  the  shops  at  princess  street  itself.  I  think  amrutlal  is  the  2nd  or  3rd  shop  from  the  corner  right  ?  Then  I  think  I  had  see  it  a  couple  of  shops  away  from  it.
Garothmaan  had  also  found  it  the  last  time  he  went  there.

Pio  :  Dilute  Cidex  down  from  roughly  2.5%  to  1.5  %.  Just  add  around  1/3rd  of  the  stock  solution  volume  in  water,  meaning  add  around  350ml  of  water  to  1  litre  of  Cidex

Garothmaan  :  I  dont  have  access  to  the  lab  equipment  needed  to  dilute  it  anymore.  I  have  already  taken  care  and  stockpiled  it  in  a  10  liter  jerrycan   ROFL

 Garbhai

@Nothing  personal-  but  I  have  read  a  lot  of  stories  on  the  net  and  in  the  news  papers  like  many  others  do  without  knowing  the  writer's/editor's  back  ground  and  experience  and  then  take  caution  or  accept  such  stories.
 Not  me  Boss-
These  "populist"  talks  are  always  or  often  supported  by  parties  who  have  vested  interests  in  a  mercantile  view  and  people  like  us  have  to  change  course  to  their  whims  and  fancies.

 hehehehehe  Well  said.

No  lol  my  jerrycan  is  one  of  2  that  I  had  filled  up  bottle  by  bottle  when  I  used  to  dilute  it  in  the  lab.

Garothmaan  :  If  your  back  is  to  the  sauchalay  and  on  your  right  is  the  street  with  the  chemical  vendors  then  its  the  5th  shop  I  think.  It  has  a  couple  of  stairs  and  those  plastic  strip  curtains  at  the  entrance.  Pio  mentioned  that  you  had  found  Cidex  when  you  went  there  recently  then  why  are  you  asking  where  the  shop  is  ?

Im  not  sure  what  you  are  trying  to  say  about  having  vested  interests  and  whether  it  is  directed  towards  me.  If  you  recall  I  have  given  you  and  Pio  Glut  for  FREE  and  neither  do  I  sell  it  here  or  to  other  hobbyists  so  I  have  no  idea  what  you  mean  by  commercial  interests.  I  was  just  informing  you  guys  out  of  concern  as  a  friend  to  use  the  prediluted  chemical  as  it  is  highly  toxic  in  its  concentrated  form.

I  have  sent  copies  of  the  MSDS  to  Pio  as  well  as  Ramdas  which  I  am  sure  they  can  forward  to  you

Also  your  point  about  if  it  was  toxic  they  would  sell  it......  You  have  got  to  be  joking.  This  in  Mumbai  where  the  hell  have  you  ever  needed  a  certificate  anywhere  that  can  be  bypassed  with  'lafda'  and  'jugad'.  These  shops  also  readily  sell  Potassium  nitrate  which  can  be  used  to  make  bombs  and  concentrated  sulfuric  acid  as  well  as  other  dangerous  chemicals  over  the  counter  without  batting  an  eyelid.

I  am  really  disappointed  that  you  would  accuse  me  of  trying  to  make  money  when  I  all  I  had  was  goodwill  in  mind.  Truly  a  low  blow  from  you  Percy

Array  Bava  Doh  !  I  didnot  go  to  Cidexwala  shop.  I  went  to  the  local  ground  floor  shop  opposite  Amrutlal,  who  also  sells  blue  liquid  and  hypo.  He  told  me  to  came  next  day.  But  instead  I  went  to  Amrulal  and  asked  ...rest  you  know.

Relax  maaaan...  I  am  just  saying  in  general.

I  am  not  accusing  you  or  humiliating  you  If  you  have  felt  that  way  then-Ok  OK  sorry  sorry  or

 SAAAWWWWWREEEE   BAVA  Smile  .

Yes  quite  justified  though,  but  lets  get  productive  also,  now  find  out  how  to  use  this  bottle  and  be  successive  with  it.  Show  us  your  experience  here  Very Happy

@Sandeep
The  current  recipe  is  36  ml  Glut  to  be  mixed  with  564  ml  water  for  a  total  600  ml  solution.  This  already  dilutes  the  concentration.
So  are  you  suggesting  that  we  increase  the  water  it  has  to  be  mixed  with  to  reduce  the  concentration  further  ?

If  you  using  above  diluted  concentration,  it  is  okay,  this  will  give  you  a  a  approx  1.5%  solution  of  glut.
Keep  it  in  dark  bottle,  away  from  lights,  it  decomposes  over  a  period  of  time.
However  take  care  while  diluting,  it  is  highly  toxic.
I  am  attaching  portion  of  MSDS  of  Flourish  Excel,  even  at  1.5%  it  should  be  handled  carefully,  at  25  %  it  is  much  more  toxic.

Its  cool  Percy,  just  water  under  the  bridge  Thumb Up

I  had  heard  from  Pio  that  you  had  found  Cidex  itself  there  that  is  what  I  mentioned.  If  Cidex  is  not  available  then  another  similar  brand  called  Metricide  might  be  available  instead.

 Ok  Relax  guys

I'm  going  to  use  the  25%  Glut  of  Amrutlal  that  I  have.

Scorpio  recommends  that  in  his  experience  better  results  are  seen  if  you  dose  the  25%  Glut  solution  directly  in  the  tank  near  the  flow  of  the  filter  using  a  syringe  rather  than  diluting  it.
The  dose  being  1  ml/40  liter  for  the  sake  of  calculations.

 and

I  plan  to  make  a  1.5%  solution  of  250  ml  using  15  ml  25%  Glut  mixed  in  235  ml  water  and  keep  this  in  the  250ml  Azoo  Bottle  itself  because  it  has  a  tight  lid  and  soft  bottle  which  can  be  squeezed  into  the  measure  rather  than  pouring  from  a  larger  mouth  of  a  Pepsi  bottle

 I'll  test  both  these  options.

Pio  -  What  is  the  reason  you  want  to  use  glut?

As  an  alternative  to  replace  the  Azoo  Carbon  Plus  that  I'm  using  which  is  Liquid  CO2.
