@Sharky,  I  have  a  doubt,  Have  u  ever  change  the  water...?

Do  you  have  special  net  to  catch  the  Dhapni.   ?

Is  the  Dhapni  survive  without  Aeration?

Because,  Past  three  months  i  have  kept  in  a  huge  bucket.  Which  is  in  Cylindrical  Shape.  One  of  my  LFS  guy  suggest  me  to  keep  it  a  Milk  tub  OR  Any  shaped  liked  that.

 no  thumb  rule
i  feed  them  to  make  water  slightly  opaque...
may  be  its  more  or  less...if  its  flour1/8  teaspoon  i  blend  with  water
if  green  water  1  cup  for  buket
yeast  i  take  two  grain,  add  water  keep  aside....after  sometime  churn  it  with  blender
 add  it  to  container.
 areation  is  always  helpfull....
i  hve  no  net  will  use  my  wife  dupatta(idea  given  by  ramdas),  gud  idea
i  have  not  change  the  water  ...but  will  do  today  cover  the  pipe  with  my  wife  dupatta
 and  then  will  change
 lets  see  how  it  proceeds..

just  one  word  of  caution  regarding  the  dark  jerky  thing  in  the  water.  I  can  be  hydra  or  even  larvae  of  grasshoppers.  once  they  get  big  they  feast  on  the  daphnia.

 Bhavin
You  can  use  a  Rs5/Rs10  tea  strainer  sold  on  the  road.  The  plastic  green  /  orange  types  with  white  netting.  Take  a  swipe  in  the  water  to  harvest

 @Bhavin

Have  a  read  through  this  on  food.  With  your  expertise  now  on  culturing  Daphnia  you  can  experiment  with  this  and  check  results

Thanks  to  Diane  for  this   Smile

The  way  she  cultures  them  in  shallow  trays  seems  too  easy  but  I  wonder  if  we  could  do  this  in  Mumbai  temperatures  ?

@sharky:  How  is  the  culture  growing.  I  had  multiple  times  tried  culturing  daphnia  in  a  20  liter  bucket  with  spirulina  and  bakers  yeast.  I  would  make  the  water  cloudy  in  the  morning  and  then  when  i  would  be  back  in  the  evening  it  would  be  clear  which  would  mean  the  daphnia  is  eating  the  yeast  and  spirulian.  They  do  multiply  but  not  at  a  fast  rate  that  it  would  be  worth  continuing.  What  is  your  experience  with  them.
