 Hey,

I'm  extremely  sad  to  inform  that  80%  of  my  fish  have  died  in  3.5  months.  I  started  this  hobby  in  Feb  with  a  lot  of  enthusiasm.  I  followed  all  the  instructions  given  online.  I'm  still  not  able  to  understand  the  root  cause  of  my  problem.

I  had  cycled  my  tank,  added  fish  after  long  intervals,  cleaned  and  changed  water  every  week,  fed  in  moderation,  tried  to  maintain  the  water  temp.  as  much  as  possible,  conducted  regular  test  for  ammonia...
My  plants  are  not  doing  well  too.  Used  and  tried  different  dosage  pattern  for  liquid  fertilizers  and  flourish  excel.  Earlier,  I  used  to  switch  on  both  36w  lights,  but  since  1.5  months,  I  use  one  36w  light  at  a  time...

I  guess  my  tank  is  infected.  What  do  I  do  now?  My  tank  size  is:  24incesx12incesx9inces  height.  Is  height  the  main  reason?  I  can  see  some  blue  colored  substance  on  all  the  four  corners  of  the  tank  (from  inside),  is  that  the  glue  used  to  attach  the  glasses?  Is  it  harmful?

I  get  bore-well  water  in  the  bathroom,  but  I  use  BMC  water  from  the  kitchen.  Though  my  building  authority  says  the  pipes  are  different,  I  reckon,  the  water  gets  mixed.  Could  that  be  a  reason?

Any  valuable  suggestion  would  be  appreciated

 Thanks

 Hi  Ajay,

How  about  the  filteration  system  used?

according  to  the  dimensions,  the  tank  capacity  is  10-11  Gallon  app.

pls  use  the  proper  filteration  system.  Pls  mention,  the  fishes  u  left  in  the  tank.

combination  of  fishes  is  very  important.

also  2  x  36  watts  =  72  watts  is  very  high  for  10  gallon  tank,  may  cause  severe  algae  issue,  will  raise  the  water  temp  to  high..

 Thanks

 Mahendran  A

 Well  said  Garothamaan.
Ajay,  un-analysed,  improper  soil  (or)  substrate  mixture  will  play  with  your  water  pH  &  hardness..!!
 check  out  the  substrate.

Ok.  I  will  look  into  it.  I  don't  know  much  about  my  own  substrate  mainly  because  an  expert  had  helped  me  buy  it.  Percy,  you  had  ordered  the  same  substrate  from  Utekar,  right?  What  do  you  think  about  it...

I  will  try  and  come  this  Sunday...

Bring  the  water  and  soil  in  a  plastic  bag  on  this  MAM  rom  your  current  TANK  position.  Also  list  out  the  different  types  of  fishes  you  had  kept  and  died  in  the  tank.

Get  fresh  water  in  a  different  plastic  bag  rom  your  residential  water  supply,  that  which  you  bathe  with  ROFL  .

Approximately  how  much  soil  is  in  your  tank  right  now?  Does  you  soil  have  blacj  deposits  on  the  surface?

Be  sure  to  get  these  at  MAM.

Thanks  everyone.  I  don't  give  up  easily.  But  here  I  gave  a  second  thought  mainly  because  for  fish  dying  due  to  some  mistakes.  I  don't  like  to  see  them  die,  nobody  likes  it...

Anyway,  Mortis,  I  will  call  you  on  Sat,  plan  sounds  good

I  will  get  the  samples  too
