 Hello  Everyone,

Aquatika  2006  was  a  wonderful  experience  and  all  those  who  came  for  the  event  were  extremely  satisfied  with  the  different  features  that  were  presented.    It  was  good  to  see  and  meet  a  lot  of  IAHians  from  different  parts  of  India  come.    We  could  now  identify  each  person  by  their  IAH  ID  and  also  put  a  face  to  those  ID's.

The  event  started  off  with  the  video  presentation  Jewel  of  the  Carribean.    The  video  showed  the  different  marine  species  of  the  carribean  islands  and  was  a  wonderful  presentation  by  National  Geographic.

This  was  followed  by  Andrew  Soh's  presentation  on  his  Holistic  view  for  Fish  Keeping  and  The  Naked  Truth  about  DISCUS  was  highly  enlightening.    He  mixed  facts  and  humor  which  kept  the  audience  in  rapt  attention  throughout  his  2  hour  presentation.

Following  Andrew's  presentation  the  3rd  Anniversary  cake  was  cut  by  Elaine  and  was  served  to  everyone  as  desert  for  Lunch.

After  lunch  the  Video  on  How  to  setup  a  Marine  Tank  was  shown.    This  video  discussed  all  the  varios  aspects  in  setting  up  and  maintaining  an  Marine  tank.

After  this  video  presentation  Dr.  Konda  Reddy  gave  his  presentation  on  Keeping  and  Breeding  Sea  Horses  and  Clams  which  was  professional  and  enlightening.

Atanu  spoke  on  Photography  and  post  processing  of  Images  for  people  who  wanted  to  photograph  their  fishes  and  also  take  part  in  the  Photo  competition  held  every  month  on  IAH.

Nag  spoke  on  Water  Chemistry  and  involved  Madhu,  Deepak  and  Adip  for  his  presentation.

Beta  spoke  on  Care  and  Breeding  of  Tanganyikan  Cichlids.

Nag  and  Beta  had  to  speed  up  their  presentation  as  we  were  running  out  of  time.    The  event  started  at  9:30  and  ended  sharp  at  5:30.    Adip  concluded  the  event  with  a  well  prepared  Vote  of  Thanks.

A  detailed  image  gallery  on  the  event  has  been  uploaded  on  IAH  and  can  be  accessed  through  this  link.

It  is  my  request  to  team  IAH  to  host  next  aquatika  in  a  city  which  can  be  accesseable  overnight  by  most  parts  of  india.
This  will  enable  a  lot  of  members  to  attend  Aquatika.

Andrew  our  sincere  thanks  for  making  it  to  Aquatika  2006,  Bangalore,  and  being  an  excellent  guest.

Everyone  really  appreciated  your  "Double"  presentation  at  Aquatika.

Guys  Andrew  was  scheduled  to  speak  on  Diseases  in  Ornamental  fish  Culture  .....,  but  once  this  presentation  was  completed  he  continued  on  for  another  hour  about  Discus.

Thanks  also  for  bringing  in  Trios  of  the  Kuhaku  and  Tancho  Swordtails  for  everyone  who  ordered  them  rather  than  pairs  that  was  announced.

My  personal  thanks  for  the  Blue  Saphhire  swordtails  and  the  Saphhire  Double  sword  tails.

I  hope  all  the  Mangoes  reached  without  any  missing.
   Very Happy

Hope  to  catch  you  next  year  for  one  of  our  field  trips.

The  most  important  fator  for  any  city  to  host  Aquatika  is  the  support  from  the  members  from  that  city.  IAH  members  from  other  cities  will  definitely  come  for  Aquatika,  as  the  date  is  known  a  year  in  advance  -  Last  Sunday  of  June  Every  Year.

Expecting  members  from  outstation  to  outnumber  the  local  members  will  simply  not  work  out.  The  majority  support  has  to  be  from  within  the  city.
Having  someone  offer  free  accomodation  and  transport  goes  a  long  way  in  encouraging  outstation  participation.

In  Bangalore,  Trevor,  Adip,  Nikhil,  Rufus,  Susheel  to  name  a  few  did  most  of  the  legwork,  helped  along  by  Ravi,  Sriramrr  and  others  from  Chennai,  I  was  only  the  coordinator.  The  others  did  not  post  about  Aquatika  2006  on  IAH  to  avoid  confusion,  and  multiple  focal  points,  but  believe  me,  everybit  that  was  posted  went  through  all  of  them.

Except  possibly  the  first  announcement  "Aquatika  2006  will  be  held  in  Bangalore  this  year"  ROFL  ,  the  Chennai  guys  were  getting  ready  to  host  Aquatika,  but  relying  on  last  years  talk  of  having  it  again  in  Bangalore  I  went  ahead  with  the  announcement,  that  ofcourse  did  not  change  anything  regarding  the  conduct  of  Aquatika.

So  once  a  co-ordinator  takes  over,  he  will  be  the  only  one  informing  members  about  all  aspects  -  the  mouth  peice,  all  others  will  have  to  backup  him  or  her  without  reservation  or  the  event  cannot  be  successful.

Like  Trevor,  rightly  said,  you  don't  need  to  have  Foreign  Speakers  and  experts  over  for  Aquatika,  it  will  not  be  possible  to  bring  people  over  every  year,  the  main  thing  is  to  meet  newer  people  and  gather  new  ideas.
