Sharing  pictures  of  my  gardneri  killifish  for  those  interested  in  killies.  Since  there  isn't  an  egg-layers  or  cyprinodontiformes  sub-forum  I'm  posting  here.

Can't  help  picture  quality  I  don't  own  a  smart  phone  so  these  are  picture  from  a  borrowed  phone.  If  you'd  like  to  talk  about  killies  then  post   here.  I  will  even  have  some  sub-adults  by  the  end  of  the  month,  those  that  are  familiar  with  killies  may  contact  me  for  the  same  by  then.

These  are  small  fish  that  grow  to  tiny  sizes(7cms  maxium  for  Fp.  gardneri)  but  outdo  most  other  fresh  water  fish  in  terms  of  color  and  finnage,  but  that's  my  opinion,  so  no  heated  debates  should  ensue;).  They  need  cold  water  which  is  why  they're  hardly  found  in  india  (except  for  indigenous  of  course)  but  it's  worth  the  challenge.  They  breed  by  scattering  eggs.

 Cheers  Smile

Nice.  What  tank  do  you  have  them  in?  Where  are  these  originally  from?   Hope  they  are  ok  for  planted  tank.  Good  to  know  information  about  fish  that  we  don't  come  across  often.

 Cheers,

 Karthik

 Hi!

I  have  them  in  a  dedicated  5  gallon  tank,  they're  best  kept  on  their  own  as  they're  small  so  easy  victims  to  bullying  if  you  don't  research  their  natural  companions  in  African  waters.  They're  definitely  okay  for  most  tropical  fish  settings,  I  have  them  in  a  bare  bottom  with  IAL,  earlier  the  male  was  in  a  bare/  slightly  planted  laterite  based  tank  (15G).

Yeah,  that's  why  I'm  trying  to  spread  the  hobby  in  India  with  the  help  of  a  few  other  killie  keepers  I  know.  Two  simple  prerequisites  are  that  you  have  a  cooling  fan  and  a  dedicated  tiny  tank  (5  gallons  is  all  you  need!  Try  not  to  go  beyond  15  as  the  fish  are  small)

A  picture  of  the  my  pair  from  their  earlier  days  a  few  months  ago.  In  case  anyone  was  wondering  what  the  females  look  like,  there  is  dimorphism  between  the  sexes,  the  females  being  colorless  (with  exceptions  naturally)  and  pot-bellied.

Please  do  not  share  these  picture  without  letting  me  know  Smile

 All  the  best  Chaitanya

Ensure  your  tank  is  covered  so  they  dont  jump  out.  If  you  need  floating  plants  let  me  know  on  the  MAM  thread.

Should  always  take  the  time  to  read  up  before  you  commit,  especially  given  the  price  you  got  them  at.  Let  me  know  if  you  need  any  gardneri  eggs,  they're  spawning  all  over  the  place  Smile

 Oops  !!  Misunderstanding..
Remember  kenshi...  we  don't  take  anything  from  hobbiest..  we  just  need  dedication  and  commitment..  and  we  don't  care  about  crappy  people  who  just  talk.
So..  no  give  and  take..  plz.   Chuckle
