 Hello  Friends!

 Yesterday  I  tried  to  strip  the  fries  from  one  of  the  fish  whose  mouth  was  swollen.  Unfortunately  the  eggs  were  not  hatched.   Sad

 It  spat  out  the  eggs  and  as  soon  as  I  realized  that  the  eggs  were  not  hatched  I  left  the  fish  in  the  tub.  It  soon  took  all  the  eggs  into  her  mouth  again.  The  fish  is  still  in  the  tub.

 Experts  please  suggest  is  it  okay  to  keep  the  fish  in  the  tub  till  the  eggs  are  hatched  or  should  I  leave  in  in  the  tank.  I  am  in  a  doubt  whether  the  eggs  were  fertilized  or  not.

 Please  advice!

 Pic  attached  for  reference.

 Regards
 Agnelo

 Put  the  fish  back  with  the  community.  You  will  stress  it  in  the  tub.  And  no,  dont  worry  about  them  being  spat  out,  they  surely  must  be  fertilized  only  then  would  she  be  holding  so  long.  Keep  all  your  hopes  high.  Thumb Up

 All  the  very  best!

 IMO,  the  female  cichlid  is  better  off  in  the  tank.  If  you  want  to  keep  it  in  the  tub,  then  you  need  to  change  water  frequently.  Also,  while  carrying  eggs  in  it's  mouth,  the  fish  would  eat  considerably  less  food.  So  be  careful  not  to  stress  it.  Now  that  you  have  it  in  the  tub,  let  her  be  there,  just  put  an  air  pump  and  keep  water  changing  water  daily  (20%  is  ok  i  think).  Hope  you've  added  some  amount  of  your  current  tank  water  in  the  tub.

 Good  luck  with  it.

 Cheers,

 Karthik

 Thank  you  Friends!
 @Saikumar
 The  fish  is  in  the  tub  for  2  days  now  and  it  is  keeping  good.
 @KarthikC
 I  don't  have  air  pump  right  now.  I  am  changing  water  twice  a  day  i.e.  I  remove  3-4  mugs  of  water  and  refill  it  with  3-4  mugs  of  warm  water(just  to  maintain  the  water  temp.  at  around  27  degrees).  Yes  nearly  1/4th  of  the  tub  was  filled  with  water  from  the  tank.  Well  how  can  we  know  whether  the  fish  is  stressed  out?

 Regards

 I  feel  you  need  to  siphon  the  water  rather  than  use  a  mug.  Also,  while  refilling  the  water,  please  do  it  really  slowly.  If  the  fish  gets  spooked  easily  and  has  dull  colours,  it  is  indication  of  stress.  Since  it  is  carrying  eggs  in  mouth,  it  is  difficult  to  check  whether  it's  appetite  has  gone  down.  Try  not  to  disturb  the  tub  and  provide  some  lighting  too.

 Cheers,

 Frankly,  no  idea  Mr.  Agnelo.  I've  had  the  fish  spawn  in  the  aquarium  only.  Let  it  be  there  till  the  eggs  hatch.  Then  let's  see.  How's  the  fish  colour  looking  now?  Is  she  readily  accepting  food?

 Cheers,

 Hello  Karthik,

 Nope  she  is  not  having  anything  now.  I  had  put  4  pellets  of  terabits.  Read  in  an  article  that  usually  they  don't  eat  anything  while  they  are  carrying  eggs.  The  color  seems  okay  and  the  behavior  looks  normal.

 Hello  Friends!

 Stripped  the  fries  yesterday.  The  fish  was  holding  the  eggs  for  almost  14  days.  It  was  not  having  anything  and  the  color  was  getting  very  pale.  so  decided  to  strip  the  fries  off.  This  is  the  fry  tray  with  the  fries.  21  fries.   Very Happy

 Congratulations  Agnelo....
 Seems  these  guys  still  have  yolk  sack  attached,  I  think  they  need  to  be  put  in  egg  tumbler  till  they  are  free  swimming,  else  they  might  not  survive.
 All  the  best.
 Take  care

 Thank  you  Friends!

 @Nitin  and  Hrishi,

 The  fries  are  premature  as  said  earlier  (14  days).  Actually  more  7  days  would  have  been  fine,  but  the  fish  was  getting  very  pale  in  color  and  hence  stripped  the  fries.  I  put  the  fish  back  into  the  community  tank  but  it  was  not  eating  anything  and  other  fish  were  chasing  her.  so  took  it  back  from  the  tank  and  placed  in  the  tub  again.  It  is  regaining  its  color  and  started  eating,  but  it  is  not  active  as  it  was  before.

 The  fries  swim  for  some  time  then  lie  at  the  bottom.  It  has  been  2  days  now  and  I  keep  checking  if  they  are  still  alive  or  not.  Smile  .  Thank  God!  all  21  still  have  movements(  till  today  morning  9000  hrs).  Hope  everything  goes  well.

 Regards
 Agnelo

 Hello  Friends!

 All  the  fries  are  doing  good.  The  color  is  coming  up.  Friends  when  is  it  safe  to  leave  the  fries  in  the  main  tank?

 Regards
