 Hi.
i  have  a  42x24x18  inches  tank  55  gal  i  house  a  pair  of  blue  peacock  ,  pair  of  blue  dolphin  ,  pair  of  venustus  ,  a  multi  colored  cichlid  ,  a  pair  of  oscar  ,  pair  of  yellow  parrot  ,  pair  of  normal  parrot  its  orange  in  color  ,  a  black  leopard  pleco  ,  a  pair  of  orange  albino  cichlid  and  lastly   a  pair  of  zebra  convict  cichlid  a  male  and  a  female  -_-  i  dint  kno  about  convict  when  i  got  them  i  always  wanted  a  zebra  black  and  white  cichlid  when  i  saw  them  i  just  got  them

i  had  a  white  gravel  in  tank  it  was  smooth  but  my  pleco  skin  around  mouth  and  eyes  looked  peeled  so  i  removed  it  its  currently  bare  bottom  i  am  thinking  of  adding  sand  to  it  (  pleco  is  doing  fine  )  i  have  few  hiding  spots  so  i  will  get  on  it  and  get  some  stones  and  make  more  caves  in  few  days  .

i  am  facing  problem  with  water  clarity  its  not  clear  it  looks  little  milky  and  sometime  i  c  some  of  my  fish  get  a  blue  line  below  their  eyes  i  am  worried  about  that  (  it  goes  away  nothing  happens  )  i  dont  kno  what  it  is  and  my  venus  and  albino  r  getting  blue  on  the  face  i  dont  kno  whats  happening  to  them  can  someone  let  me  know  .  they  r  eating  fine  swimming  normally  .

i  want  some  suggestions  and  what  u  think  of  the  tank  i   was  thinking  of  adding  couple  of  more  pair  cause  i  saw  overstocking  cichlid  will  help  if  aggression  increases  .

my  cichlids  dont  fight  except  for  the  male  convict  it  has  marked  a  territory   if  any  fish  goes  there  it  will  chase  them  away

i  am  new  to  keeping  cichlids

 Welcome  to  IAH  slowhit!

You  have  mixed  wrong  types  of  fish  in  your  tank,(Different  species  with  different  diet)  Oscar  will  grow  big  in  size  and  you  will  see  them  outgrow  much  faster  than  other  tank  mates.  It  is  better  to  give  away  the  oscar.  I  dont  know  how  much  compatible  will  be  your  parrots  with  other  Cichlids.

Use  sand  for  substrate.  Easy  in  terms  of  maintenance.

Cichlids  need  good  filtration  5X  times  the  volume  of  your  tank.

I  think  your  tank  is  already  overstocked.

 Post  a  FTS  if  possible.

 Regards
 Agnelo

I  am  also  planning  a  cichlid  tank  and  have  got  a  pair  of  zebra  convict  planned  as  first  residents.  I  was  informed  its  hard  to  find  tank  mates  for  these  but  my  tank  is  slightly  larger  (48X17X24  inch)  and  i  am  thinking  that  based  on  your  tank  I  should  be  able  to  add  in  a  few.

I  guess  rocky  hiding  places  is  the  key.

dont  buy  convict  i  have  a  pair  and  1  larger  male  convict  had  made  half  the  tank  its  property  it  chase  away  any  other  fish  all  other  of  my  fise  stay  on  other  side  of  tank  and  because  of  that  my  venus  some  time  start  chasing  those  fish  from  that  side  too  so  i  am  buying  a  tank  for  the  2  convicts  today  .
