It  has  been  a  week  since  I  have  bought  one  Pleco  and  copper  Gourami  from  same  store...

Added  on  Indian  almond  leaf  as  conditioner..

Since  2-3  days,  I  THINK,  the  pleco  has  developed  ich  over  its  entire  body...Please  check  the  snaps  and  confirm.  If  yes  please  help  me  to  get  rid  of  the  disease.  If  no,  then  is  it  the  normal  pattern  on  the  fish??

Yesterday  I  changed  25-30%  of  the  water  by  siphoning  it  from  bottom.
Even  one  of  the  gourami  seems  to  have  developed  same  salt-grain  like  on  its  fins  ...but  after  yesterday's  water  change  it  seems  to  have  got  reduced

All  the  3  fishes  swim  normally  and  are  active.  No  signs  of  body-rubbing-against  wall.

Salil,  if  its  an  ich,  you  better  get  rid  of  it  as  soon  as  you  can,  else  you're  going  to  see  your  fishes  die.

There  are  several  'home  remedies'  such  as  increasing  water  temperature,  salt  water  bath  etc.   However,  they  take  a  lot  of  time  and  patience.

My  suggestion  (based  on  my  experience)  is  to  get  a  really  good  medication  available  from  the  fish  store.   Copper  based  ich  medicines  are  generally  effective.   Handle  it  with  care:

 1.  Move  the  fishes  to  a  separate  tub/  tank/  bucket.
 2.  Aerate  the  water  well  (use  air  stones).
 3.  Keep  the  water  warm  (24  -  25  degree  C)
 4.  Add  less  than  half  of  the  recommended  dose  of  the  medication.
 5.   Feed  sparingly.
 6.  Look  for  signs  of  stress  or  recovery  and  act  accordingly.

 @  Sail,

Shankar  had  already  explained  in  detail  on  what  you  need  to  do.

I  would  recommend  you  to  immediately  move  the  ill  fish  to  another  tank  or  a  bucket  if  you  dont  have  spare  tank.

Dont  buy  the  regular  blue  medicine  available  in  most  of  the  LFS.  Its  of  no  use.  Go  for  good  branded  medicine.  I  have  seen  some  from  API.  Its  good.

What  is  your  tank  water  temperature?

Salil,  I  can't  really  confirm.  (for  e.g.  there  are  lots  of  plecos  with  spots  over  their  bodies).

But  let's  say  your  pleco  or  gourami  did  not  have  those  white  spots  earlier,  and  these  spots  (so  many  of  them)  developed  over  a  short  period  of  time  (1-2  days),  then  you  be  mostly  sure  that  its  ich.   Compare  your  fishes'  looks  to  photos  of  ich-infected  fishes  and  take  a  call.

 Update,

Daily  I  have  been  doing  water  change  40-50%  and  right  now  I  noticed  1  or  2  spots  on  Gourami  while  very  few  spots  on  pleco.  I  think  in  the  morning  the  grains  were  looking  yellowish??
Is  the  water  change  helping??  should  i  continue  &  for  how  many  days?

Can  you  please  post  a  better  pic  of  the  pleco.

For  some  reason  it  looks  like   brown  bristle  nose  pleco.  Was  this  sold  to  you  as  a  common  pleco  or  as  a  bristle  nose.

Please  ID  the  pleco  first  before  you  do  any  sort  of  treatment.
