why  whats  gonna  stop  you  in  setting  up  your  tank  when  you  got  bracing?,  you  can  also  have  aluminum  bracing   in  the  edge  it's  up  to  you  how  to  have  in  your  tank.  and  like  i  said  before  if  you  place  heater  you  gonna  loose  your  plants  for  sure  already  tank  temp  is  raising  to  30-31  degree  in  Coimbatore,   no  idea  about  your  place  and  best  temp  for  planted  tank  is  23-26.

1st  rule  is  10x  filter  say  your  tank  volume  is  150  litre  then  you  need  to  have  1500  litre/Hour  filter  for  better  water  circulation  and  to  avoid  dead  spot.

2nd  start  with  less  photo-period   and  then  increase  gradually  from  3rd  week,  so  your  plants  will  establish  and  won't  face  algae  issues,  i  always  start  with  4hour  photo  period  with  less  light  intensity  and  will  start  increasing  from  3rd  week  by  an  hour.  for  example  i  have  3  feet  tank  with  39W  X  4  T5HO  light  i  started  with  2  bulbs  initially.

3rd  start  dosing  micro  and  macro  nutrients  from  3rd  week.  better  do  EI(Estimative  Index)  or  PPS-  pro  dosing  method  so  you  gonna  spend  less  money  for  your  fertilizer  or  buy  some  liquid  fertilizer  but  make  sure  you  got  both  micro  and  macro  and  follow  the  company  instructions.

4th  switch  on  your  co2  2hrs  before  light  comes  up  and  switch  off  1hr  before  light  goes  off.

5th  if  you're  new  to  planted  tank  get  a  drop  checker  which  will  give  correct  reading  of  your  co2  level  in  aquarium.

6th  follow  a  particular  direction  of  flow  in  the  aquarium  and  keep  your  diffuser  opposite  to  it  for  better  distribution.

 @  Keerthi,

Go  for  a  8mm  thickness  glass.  Forget  about  the  bracing  for  the  tank.  6mm  is  always  risky  to  have.

I  would  strongly  suggest  you  to  go  for  a  8mm  glass.

You  dont  need  a  heater  for  a  planed  tank.  Unless  where  the  temperature  is  below  20Deg.

Fertilizer  -  I  would  suggest  you  to  go  for  Seachem  NPK  initially.  Once  you  are  tank  is  stable,  where  you  learn  how  much  to  dose,  then  go  for  DIY.

Keerthi  there  are  different  type  of  bracing  and  you  select  a  type  you  like  and  don't  fill  your  tank  until  you  have  bracing  or  replacing  with  8mm  tank  because  it  will  crack  at  some  point.  below  is  a  new  tank  with  8mm  thickness  g;ass  tank  dimension(36  X  18  X  24)  which  got  crack  after  a  month  and  replaced  with  12mm  tank  and  rescaped  the  whole  tank  and  it  was  a  big  mess,  so  don't  go  through  that  trouble.

I  already  bought  hob  filter  ...so  now  it  is  not  possible  to  ¬†buy  cansister  filter...so  please  tell  the  location  of  hob  in  tank..whether  it  can  located  behind  the  tank(along  length  wise)  or  it  can  located  on  side  of  the  tank  (along  width  wise)..which  is  most  correct  position  to  make  water  circulation  ¬†within  my  limits..if  so  where  to  place  the  co2  diffuser  and  air  pump  outlet..I  have  co2  cylinder,  in  future  whether  it  is  possible  to  attach  solenoid  with  it...please  post  some  of  your  photos  for  how  to  make  complete  planted  tank  setup..

 @  Keethi,

HOB  will  not  work  good  for  a  good  planted  tank.  As  all  mentioned,  you  need  good  water  flow  in  a  planted  tank.  With  HOB,  you  will  have  dead  spots  in  the  tank  and  eventually  lead  to  series  algae  issues.

About  the  placing  of  the  HOB,  you  can  place  it  at  the  back  of  the  tank.  Even  if  you  place  at  the  side  of  the  tank,  the  other  side  of  the  tank  will  not  have  any  water  flow.
I  would  suggest  you  to  add  an  internal  filter  if  you  do  not  have  plans  to  install  a  canister  filter.

Solenoid  -  Can  be  connected  to  most  of  the  regulators.  Could  you  please  post  the  picture  of  your  regulator  so  that  people  can  suggest  on  which  is  the  best  suitable  solenoid  can  be  connected  to  your  regulator.

 Hi  keerthi,

HOB  filter  placement  is  up  to  the  tank  setup  place  where  it  won't  disturb  the  plant  that  much,  and  if  you  got  regulator  and  want  to  attach  solenoid  it  will  take  only  250-400rs  you  itself  can  attach  to  the  regulator,  you  can  find  solenoid  in  nanjappa  road  coimbatore,  and  for  more  flow  you  can  get  power  head  like  Shelly  meant  goto  beena  aquarium  you  will  get  cheap  there,  and  you  can  select  the  flow  rate  according  to  your  tank  10x  flow  is  the  thump  rule  so  you  can  calculate  the  flow  rate  accordingly.

And  fix  co2  diffuser  opposite  to  your  filter  outlet  so  you  will  get  good  circulation  like  you  asked  i'm  posting  my  regulator  and  water  circulation  pic,  the  regulator  is  DIY  where  i  bought  everything  separate  and  assembled  myself  and  i  use  circular  flow  in  my  tank.

i  have  two  canister  filter  and  a  power  head  all  are  kept  in  the  corners
