Thanks for the reply.
So say we want to directly dose this 2% solution in a tank (without converting it into 1.5%). So then the daily dosing will be 1ml per 53Ltr. Correct?
Should we expect the growth in plants by using this as in seachem flourish excel or not? i.e. a replacement for co2 dosing? |

I am not that good at maths, so I will leave it to you to figure out the dosing calculations. I use both CO2 as well as Glutaraldehyde in high light tanks. I would put the growth at about 60% when compared to Pressurized CO2. For slow growing plants such as ferns and anubias there was not much difference between Co2 and Glut. I could see a lot of difference when i used it with stem plants such as Rotala. Growth is not the same. I was able to grow marselia hirsuta and s. repens pretty well. |

I'm also not good at maths. I had actually used a pen and paper after a long time just to remember the formula and calculate. Suddenly all the memories of school came back
So how I got the dosing for 1ml was:
X(L) / 0.02(%) = 40(L) / 0.015(%)
i.e. X = 53.3 L
That's some great results you've got there. I'm trying to grow marselia h. in my new tank as well. Dosing seachem excel every alternate day. But not getting much growth. Not pumping CO2 though. |

The other thing I do before starting dosing Glutaraldehyde, is let plants acclimatize to the tank for 3-4 week. This will prevent the delicate plants from melting once you start dosing Glut. Plants will also require around 4 weeks to get used to glut. so you should be able to see good growth after about a month.
There was a post by Tom Barr, That said excel was not glutaraldehyde but something similar. I am not able to find it now. I will post once I get the link |

Hello "dotfish" and "preeths"
I have been following this thread.
As I understand the dosage is 1 ml of 2% solution to 53 litres of water.
I learnt that 2% solution is available in Bangalore and can be purchased.
I have these doubts.
What is the frequency of dosing. Is it only after water change depending upon the qty of change.
How the fishes (Tetras, rainbows, shrimps) react to this. How does this affects them.
regards,

I dose daily. 1 ml per 10 gallon
Killies, Angels, Kribs and guppies were un affected. I don't have tetras and shrimp. So I cant comment on those. Kribs and guppies are breeding like rabbits. |

I am over dosing(i have an algae issue) and I havent seen any problem with fishes. I am dosing 20ml/2% on my 60 gallon tank i.e 3 ml per 10 gallon , twice per week. Yes I have neons, cardinals and rainbows in my tank and few shrimps too. My water change regime is weekly more than 50 percent water and dose immediately after the water change
Hope that helps
regards

I have got " Glutihyde " 2% 5 litres. As this is too much qty for me, I don't mind sharing.
Any one interested contact me.
