Requesting  Experts  in  Planted  Aquaria  (IAH  has  quite  a  few  of  them)  to  review  the  following  build  and  give  your  valuable  inputs,

Tank  Size  :  3'  *  2'  *  2'  extra  clear  glass  (Plan  to  convert  it  to  a  marine  setup  in  the  future)

 ADA  Substrate  System
 (Power  Sand,  Amazonia,  ADA  Bacter,Clear  Super,Tourmaline  BC,Penac  P  )

 Hardscape:  ADA  Frodo  Rocks  25kg

Lighting:  Zetlight  Pro  Series  ZP2500H  LED

 CO2:  Pressurised

I  also  considered  using  Kudeng  KDJLZ150-800  with  stock  lights  replaced  with  ADA  MH  Bulb  and  ADA  NA  Lights.

 Filtration:  Eheim

I  have  maintained  planted  aquaria  in  the  past  and  have  working  experience  in  maintaining  aquariums

I  haven't  sourced  some  items  from  that  list  so  if  you  do  know  of  some  suppliers  who  can  source  them  for  me,  would  be  great.

 Thanks  in  advance

 Abu  Maryam.

 Hi  Welcome  IAH  Smile

Substrate  i  will  say  go  only  for  Aquasoil  alone  if  you  plan  to  keep  lot  of  stem  plants  then  power  sand  is  good  option  for  root  system,  other  than  that  substrate  additives  not  required  at  all.  mostly  your  tank  will  form  bacteria  in  a  week  time  itself  so  no  need  at  all  instead  of  that  you  can  invest  in  some  other  thing,  Even  i  never  seen  Amano  using  that  in  his  layout  videos.

lighting  i  will  say  go  for  DIY  led  light  where  you  can  make  11-12  fixture  for  the  price  you  gonna  put  in  that.  And  you  can  also  make  more  efficient  light,  if  you  plan  to  go  for  factory  made  then  look  into  beamswork  led  which  has  very  good  review  and  price  70%  lesser  than  that.

You  said  in  future  you  might  change  to  Marine  then  it's  good  to  do  a  DIY  led  which  will  come  max  2k  which  is  high  light  also  and  when  you  change  to  marine  just  remove  some  leds  and  add  blue

Hi  Andrew,  Thanks  for  your  inputs

@...Substrate  i  will  say  go  only  for  Aquasoil  alone  :  Planning  to  plant  crypts  in  the  tank,  hence  Power  Sand.  I  do  understand  that  this  can  be  dispensed  with  but  i  think  that  the  tank  with  steep  slopes  will  require  Power  Sand  for  effective  circulation.

@...lighting  i  will  say  go  for  DIY  led  light  :   DIY  would  be  great  but  Planning  for  a  Branded  LED  Unit  for  now.

 Abu,

Sorry  for  deviating  from  the  topic  and  hijacking  you  post.

IMO  you  should  have  just  have  only  one  substrate  and  not  combine  multiple  soil.

What  type  of  layout  are  you  planning  what  plants  do  you  intend  using  no  foreground  carpet.

He  is  using  almost  all  ADA  substrate  additives,  in  addition  to  ada  power  sand  and  Amazonia.  It  should  be  fine.

My  only  advise  is  that  plant  heavy,  and  you  will  have  minimal  algae  issues.

All  these  additives  are  a  waste  of  money.  Even  with  crypts.  Spend  the  money  you  save  on  your  CO2  system,  filters  and  Liquid  fertilizers.  I  would  recommend  following  EI  dosing  as  its  the  most  cost  effective  and  works  very  well

@Thuds:  Power  Sand  according  to  my  readings  helps  in  better  water  circulation  and  prevents  compacting,  especially  since  i  plan  on  having  steep  slopes.

@Thuds:What  type  of  layout  are  you  planning:  Ideas  not  set  in  concrete  as  yet  but  :  Slopes,  Roots,Rocks.  Key  words  to  be  incorporated  in  the  Aquascape  Design.

@Mortis  All  these  additives  are  a  waste  of  money:  Waste  of  money  I  recon  not,  but  dispensable  'Yes'.  Really  Appreciate  your  Inputs,  keep  them  coming.
