Everyone:
See you all in August.
I'm glad to see that excitement is building! I have been part of WAMAS for 2 1/2 years. Last year's President explained how the club grew from a small .org that had a tiny treasury to a club that had enough clout to host a MACNA conference http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=3967 !!!!!!
Our home page describes the club's mission statement, and the opening paragraph explains the clubs dedication to children's education. One guy is a schoolteacher and cheerfully requests donations for his biology classroom. I myself gave him lights, gravel and other pieces that he would combine with other donations and turn into a working setup.
Please take a look at the website and review some of the different forums. Here's the page on the benefits of joining. http://www.wamas.org/forms/join.htm It is a Marine site, but there are some Freshies posting occasionally.
I agree with both Mitra and Saadali in that a commitment must be made and then stuck to. Once it gets off of the ground, weekly meetings is probably too frequent though. We have around 100 active members and we only meet formally quarterly, though this will increase. The main point is that the club will not be an instant success with new member clamboring to join, rather you add people each week and grow it until ultimately you will have more members than you realize. there is a big sense of community among us.
Other things that we do:
*Have tank tours and visit each other's homes to other peoples tanks.
* A couple of us were going to buy a light meter (PAR meter) to measure our light system's output - the club board was approached and paid for it out of the club funds.
* Care for tanks when someone goes away
* Arrange for store owner to speak at the meetings
* Arrange for store discounts to club members
* Arranged a trip to the Washington Zoo (sorry no panda tickets that day)
I suggest that you have a few weekly meetings during which you develope your ideas on what the clubs purpose is, and decide how to reach that purpose, then create meetings and their content, and then you invite a key person to speak at the meeting. We've had Anthony Calfo and Eric Borneman speak at our meetings.
You therefore are going to have to define roles for President, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Director, etc. although people will probably serve in multiple roles.

Well i have Fresh Water tank..
Its 3 feet in lenght and 2 feet in width and 2.5 feet in height
Its currently have 6 parrots:
1. Red Parrot Pair
2. Yellow Parrot Pair
3. Blue Parrot Pair
And
1. Tiger Oscar Pair
I have two internal filter....
One : I cant remember the name of the company... its too old ...but it has two compartments for two sponge
Two: Atman Small Filter
I have a auto control Heater set at 30c
I guess thats about it and below is the Pic of my tank ...not that great one but u can see the tank atleast and some parrots...

Also by the way .. anyone selling a Tank with Stand or with out stand but should be with the top cover ....in Hyderabad that is
If some one is selling a good nice tank let me know i am interested to buy one for my room to keep Discus ...
Please post the size of the tank and the stand and also if there are any extra things you would be giving ...
A pic of the tank would be great if u can...

Hi all. This is kumaran from W.Marredpally. I have kept FW tank for the last 6 years. My tank size of 3ft. I have rainbows, angels and German Rams. Hope everybody is doing good with fish keeping..javascript:emoticon(' ')

good to see soo many fellow hobbyists here .. id like to introduce ,yself .. im kranthiraj from dilsukhnagar recently finished my mbbs ..
got into fish keeping an your back .. got stuck to it ..
5 tanks ..
1} small 2 gallon tank with apair of freshwater dragon fish
2} 1 1/2ft *1*1 with a huge gaint albino red eyed gourami{very rare }
3} 2*2*2 planted tank started recently with loads of plants ..doing wel
4} 4*2*2 community tank with assorted parrots ,rainbow sharks discus .gourami, loads of loaches,tetras and cichids.. eels bluecats .. standing cats ..
5} 3*1.5*1 marine tank setting up this week ..waiting for the shipment of live rock .. everyelse is ready

great going ppl, with this week busy wid Deepawalii as well a Eid it would be close to impossible to make it to organize a meet, we shall meet the next coming sunday and plz decide some place so that we could rest our bums and talk to each other,
and friends do keep in touch with each other for any information...........
