 Hi  all,
 Established  the  tank  today.
 Setup  Details:-
 Tank  dimension  :  24l"12w"15h
 Substrate  :  Platinum  soil  9l
 CO2  :  Diy  co2
 Filter  :  Internal  filter
 Lights  :  36W  PLL.
Flora  :  Ambulia(dwarf),  windlov  java  fern,  java  moss,  crypt  balansae,  anubias  nana,  vals(dwarf),  Sagittaria   Subalata  (dwarf)

I  have  query  about  lights  &  aeration  ---
 1)  Intially,  for  how  much  period  lights  should  be  ON  ??
   2)  Is  it  necessary  to  start  with  lower  wattage  light  ?  If  yes  what  should  be  the  wattages  ?
 3)  keeping  aeration  OFF  during  day  time   promotes  the  plant  growth  ?
 Please  reply.

Start  with  initial  Photo  period  of  6  hrs.  Gradually  increase  to  8  hrs  depending  upon  the  response  from  plants.

 Dear  Kapil,
 Here  goes  -
 a)  I  typically  keep  lights  on  initially  for  four  hours,  and  increase  it  to  six  later.  As  Wads  mentioned,  you  can  keep  it  as  six  as  well,  and  increase  it  to  eight.
 b)  The  wattage  of  the  lights  depends  on  the  response  from  your  plants.  If  you  find  yourself  in  a  (algae!)  soup,  you  can  try  to  wriggle  out  of  it  by  lowering  the  wattage,  or  raising  the  lights.
 c)  Aeration  is  related  to  CO2  diffusion.  Since  you  have  DIY  CO2,  I  would  suggest  that  you  do  not  overly  aerate  your  tank  during  the  period  the  lights  are  on.

I  would  also  suggest  going  for  more  plant  mass.  Of  course,  your  light  levels  are  quite  low,  so  you  may  not  have  any  problems.

 Thanks,
 Arin

 Dear  Kapil,
I  have  no  experience  with  them.
But  they  may  acclimate  to  suit  your  conditions.
But  in  general,  twisting  is  not  that  good  a  sign.
 Thanks,
 Arin

36w  X  2,  is  much  better  lower  it  a  little.

Grass  is  too  much  in  the  front,  set  them  in  the  middle.  Do  you  have  a  spray  bar?  if  you  got  one  use  it  on  the  surface  of  the  water  with  that  filer.

Use  separate  small  diy  stick  for  releasing  the  CO2,  the  spray  bar  will  mix  the  co2.

Garothmaan  i  have  only  36w  pll.  will  definitely  think  about  grass  shifting.  I  do  not  have  separate  spray  bar  i  diffused  co2  through  internal  filter.
BTW  my  java  fern  is  changing  it's  state.  Is  it  natural  ?  (Whether  it  is  trying  to  acclimate?)

What  is  the  temperature  of  tank  water  ?

Light  seems  to  be  installed  too  high  and  not  throwing  enough  to  tank  ?
